new page, so some new reference music...

because if you're still addicted to only Their Heroin Era i'm afraid
this new album might leave you on the outside looking in...

also, judging by their recent lyric vids, they seem to be emphasizing
social commentary, so let's do some of that...

He looked down into her brown eyes
And said "say a prayer for me"
She threw her arms around him
Whispered, "God will keep us free"

The President sent for me
The Prince of Wales is on my trail
They worry me so much
I'll take another sniff and put them both in jail

The youth on Utica Avenue, they just can't keep cool
So much gunshot, some cripple, some turn fool
They are responsible for a lot of children
And they need food, and they want to go to school

Historical footnote: Keith played on the Uhuru single "Shine Eye Gal"

Rev 20 Redlights wrote on Apr 29th, 2023 at 7:17pm:

If you're following this topic on iorr dot org, please don't fret about
the latest fake news over there that the album has been vetoed by
Keith because Andrew Watt's sound is too "modern"

Different tracks will have different producers. You can expect there
to be full production credit for Mick and Keith and partial production
credits for Steve, Matt, Ronnie, Was, and Watt. Different combos
have taken a shot at various tracks to get/refine the perfect
timeless sound...

The criticism we will most hear is that the album is "all over the
place". Yes. Music has been in a lot of great places over the past
hundred years. And the Stones own property in all those places.

With regard to bv-land, only the latest comment from music exec
"georgelicks" is on point (that is, in agreement with what I've
been claiming lol)

"The annual activity of 3 months of touring will be album promotion this year."

Mick and Keith are in perfect alignment at the moment. Otherwise they
would have never sacrificed over a hundred million in touring revenue
for an album that, even if it triples projected sales, will produce for
them only a small fraction of that. This record is not just for us.
Or for them. This record is for the ages.

40x5 Tributo bar suggesting on Instagram  that the album could be out in the spring.

However looking at the posts on IORR they are saying that spring in Argentina is Autumn/Fall in Europe & USA.

This is the most positive news so far on the release of the new album.

Tributo Bar is a crap source, having been wrong about EVERYTHING
this year. They, like BV, just repeat what they're told. Info/misinfo/
disinfo they don't care, they don't use their brains. They're parrots
dupes tools...

So yeah, Tributo's correct finally about the autumn album, long
after literally everybody else has come to the same conclusion.
I of course was first, right here on Rocks Off

iorr dot org's "rocky dijon" does have sources, but he also uses
his considerable brain to moderate his mouth. Here's his latest take,
exactly echoing mine:

Presumably the credits are going to read Produced by Don Was,
Andrew Watt, Matt Clifford, and The Glimmer Twins. If there are
any songs sung by Keith, then Steve Jordan likely has a co-producer
credit as well.

Well, not exactly echoing me. Steve will get producer credit on
some songs sung by Mick

You say what I don't say, girl
I know what you don't know
You take me for a jerk
But that can't work
I'm not a nincompoop for you

Replying to "rockman" on iorr dot org

"Yeah but poor ole Revvy is like those
punter guys who bet on every horse in the race ....."

A lie ! A slander ! and you know it is, terry, so i'm offended,
and will respond less generously if you persist with this
ill-advised and unbecoming trolling

in summary, "rockman" sucks when he's serving as an
errand boy (I was gonna say "butt boy", but changed
my mind) for his sources/connections. When he's true
to himself and the music, he's great

Since the first week of feb, i've been consistent with my
ideas, and have been FIRST with EVERYTHING that has
been proven correct...

"no announcement in feb"                        correct
"no summer tour"                                    correct
"no fall tour either"                                  correct
"no june album"                                      correct
"no tour ever planned"                             apparently correct
"no injury or illness"                                apparently correct
"album in the autumn"                             apparently correct
"watt, was, matt, steve etc producers"      we'll see
"lotza album promotion"                          we'll see
"lotza cover songs"                                 we'll see
"surprising number of orig co-writers"      we'll see
"multi-version mega-album"                    we'll see
"album versions released week by week"  we'll see
"virtual picture sleeves for all tracks"        we'll see
"steve and darryl officially stones"            we'll see

so far in 2023 i'm the man and Rocks Off is the place

(past results are no guarantee of future performance)

p.s. thanks to iorr's "cristiano" for the link to Iggy playing D.J.
for the BBC. The pre-classic pre-satanic cover-song sharing-the-
spotlight all-genre vibe is in the air. Can you feel it yet? Its not
just in my head, its everywhere. It was thick at Willie's event,
it will be thick at Jeff's, and it will be thick on the new album
"rocking the blues". Even the new original tracks will have that vibe.

(if you didnt know, Matt and Andrew are currently on tour with Iggy)

me. Did ya listen to DJ Iggy's show yet? It confirms where we're headed)

I don't understand why you'd point out Andrew Watts as if he was now an official touring member of the band or something although he merely is being said to be a producer of the new album, maybe not even the main producer, we haven't heard much about which role e.g. Don Was has been playing so far, but anyway, I think Matt and Darryl and others like Bernard or Chuck playing gigs whenever they aren't on tour with the Stones is completely normal and nothing out of the ordinary, they have always done that, there is no bigger conspiracy behind that...other than the one you're trying to make up here...

All I can say is that I know there actually WAS supposed to be a tour and they actually TRIED to re-schedule it and that we shouldn't believe in just any dumb rumour being spread around...that's what I was told...

Dear Lord, since in Your wisdom You have guided them into doing
25 cover songs on their new mega-album, please please please
make this one of them. Everybody tells me You have a great sense
of humor, and Mick and Keith singing this song would be like the
greatest funniest thing ever. Especially with Paul being on the album.

Thy will be done, Your fan forever ♥ ♥ ♥ Revvy

Good suggestion. I was trying to think of white hippie songs
the Stones could possibly be interested in covering...

I've also been trying to think of Metal songs for the Stones
but so far have come up empty. Except for "lust for life", if
you want to count that as metal.

also via iorr, another show to consider, Burton being one of Keith's heroes:
"James Burton and Friends" London Palladium on 04 June 2023.
Joining James are Sir Brian May, Van Morrison, Albert Lee, and
Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, with more surprise guests to be announced.
Proceeds from the show will go to The James Burton Foundation,
supporting music education for those in need through guitar donations
and music instructions.

Quote:
Every top artist is using AI currently. How else do you think
Taylor Swift has come out with 3 new albums in the last 4 years?
And how else do you think new rap artists are routinely releasing
albums with 36 or 42 tracks?

For minimalist artists, AI these days is often doing 90% of the work.
Even Drake's fans agree that the new anonymous entirely AI-generated
tracks are as good or better than anything he has released the last few
years (and he's the #1 recording artist in the world)

Studio wiz and music educator Rick Beato doesnt go quite as far
as me with regard to the dance-pop and rap music of today. But he
does summarize the day after tomorrow quite well...

The one bright note here is that although AI can do recent Drake
perfectly and recent Taylor Swift quite well, it can't come close to
doing the best stuff of the Stones or any of the roots-based musics.

This AI/social media/fentanyl "music" is literally destroying minds,
and so, yeah, the Stones are fighting back by doing this mega-album
and aligning themselves forcefully with the practitioners of every variety
of human-touch music, from Muddy to Toots, from Iggy to Billy Joe...

yeah, just saw some of the crap they're posting there but it's always been the same, hasn't it? If there are no news by the band, people over there are starting to go crazy and make up the wildest rumours and come up with the stupidest possible explanations...wish the Stones would finally just release a new single so that everyone could focus on that...I mean they don't have to give us the entire new album RIGHT NOW but I feel with all those recording news and mentions of the album being already finished, I feel that ONE new single maybe released within the next 1-2 months isn't too much to ask...

I think they could release 2-3 songs at a time over the course of a year (ex/ 3 times) and
release the full album along with cuts they didnt release over the year and it would be great!
Isn't that the current business model for most musicians these days, anyway?

Very relevant to our discussion of a possible probable
Stones mega-album is today's story at Variety dot com:

Dolly Parton Reveals Duets With Paul McCartney, Elton John, Brandi
Carlile, Pink, Lizzo and More in 30-Song Track List for ‘Rockstar’ Album

Dolly Parton has revealed all the pertinent details about her long-
promised “rock album,” titled “Rockstar,” including a 30-song track list,
Nov 17 release date and literally dozens of celebrity guests — including
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr joining her for a cover of the Beatles’
“Let It Be.”

The vast majority of the 30 tracks on the fall release will include at
east one feature from a big-name artist, and in some cases two.
Brandi Carlile and Pink will be joining Parton on the Rolling Stones’
“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,”
while Emmylou Harris and Sheryl
Crow will be her guests on a song most popularized by Linda Ronstadt,
“You’re No Good”

The force of metal will be strong on the song “Bygones,” where Judas
Priest’s Rob Halford and Motley Crue members Nikki Sixx and John 5 will
join her crew. Lizzo and Sasha Flute will put some wind into her sails on
Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” even as Steven Tyler and Warren
Haynes put their heads together with the Jackson 5 cover “I Want You
Back.” And the aforementioned “Let It Be” won’t just include the two
surviving Beatles; it’ll also feature turns from Peter Frampton and Mick
Fleetwood.

Roughly half the tracks have artists joining forces with Parton on songs
they originated, like not just the ex-Beatles with “Let It Be” but Miley Cyrus
with “Wrecking Ball,” Elton John with “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,”
Debbie Harry with Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” Joan Jett with “I Hate Myself
for Loving You,” Frampton with “Baby, I Love Your Way,” Ann Wilson with
Heart’s “Magic Man,” Steve Perry with Journey’s “Open Arms,” Sting with
the Police’s “Every Breath You Take,” Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo with
“Heartbreaker,” Kevin Cronin with REO Speedwagon’s “Keep on Loving You”
and Linda Perry with 4 Non-Blondes’ “What’s Up?”

Others joining the party with featured appearances on the album include
Stevie Nicks, Chris Stapleton, Simon Le Bon, John Fogerty, Melissa
Etheridge, Michael McDonald, Richie Sambora, Ronnie McDowell, the
Jordanaires and — in what will surely be the most polarizing inclusion —
anti-trans activist Kid Rock.

One contributor has died since recording a part for the album — Lynyrd
Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington, who sat in on the closing track, “Free
Bird,” along with singer Ronnie Van Zant and original Skynyrd drummer
Artimus Pyle. Rossington died March 5.

The first single from the album, “World on Fire,” will be released Thursday
night, following Parton’s live premiere of the tune at the end of the
Academy of Country Music Awards, which she is co-hosting with Garth
Brooks. (“World on Fire” is one of just three tracks on the 30-song
collection not to have any celebrity guests, the other two being her covers
of “Purple Rain” and “We Are the Champions.”)

...

Nine of the 30 songs on “Rockstar” are originals, and the other 21 are
covers of familiar material. FYI, I continue to imagine that the Stones'
mega-album will have significantly more tracks, more originals, and
less guests than Dolly's. Also FYI, even with a Nov release date, her
first single comes out this week. So we got some hope for a single.
In a month or two. Patience please.

ARTISTS UNITED AGAINST THE MACHINES

Benjamin Franklin —
'We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.'

Though Parton has previously said that her list of A-list collaborators on
the project will include Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and
Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler, there is one rock music icon she couldn’t
quite wrangle to be part of the project: The Rolling Stones frontman
Mick Jagger.

“I never got him!” Parton told ET Online, quickly adding, “But I love Mick
Jagger no matter what. I’ll still be runnin’ after him all through the years,
because I’ve always had a crush on him.”
