He included a snippet of new Stones-sounding music, but has now
shortened it on his social media

Here's the original snippet. The still somewhat cut-off blues lyric at the

Several sources have placed Mick and Keith at Sanctuary Studios
in the Bahamas over the past few weeks...

Hopefully they're just fully finishing some of the outtakes for the
various bonus versions of the new album

ADDENDUM: and now its been confirmed by IORR's DiegoGlimmerStones
that Mick's "sick" harmonica snippet (above) was filmed at Sanctuary.

The only actual recording sessions between 2005 and 2015, to the best of my knowledge was 3-4 days in Paris in August 2012 that produced 'One More Shot' and 'Doom to Gloom'. Maybe some more stuff was tried out but to get two songs out of such a short session was pretty good, so its hard to imagine it was anything substantial.

Mick and Keith were barely on speaking terms for a while after 'Life' came out. It was easily the closest the band have come to breaking up since the mid 80's. I remember we broke the story of the band playing together (with Bill) for a few days in London in December 2011 and then again in New Jersey 5 months later (with Don Was and Darryl on bass) but I think these were more jam sessions/rehearsals than actual recording sessions

Obviously theres been lots of overdubs done for some of the album reissues in that time frame, but they were just done with a band member or two present instead of an actual band session.

December 11,14 & 15 2015 were the session dates listed for 'Blue and Lonesome' but they'd been playing for a few days before that working on new material before, by their own admission, they 'hit a wall' and ended up doing the blues album instead.

1) I think Gazza is correct. As usual. About recording sessions as
a band. But that's why I used the phrase "recording activity".
I meant their new way of working, with Keith and Steve as one
team, and Mick and Matt the other, exchanging tapes and refining
ideas that would then serve as the basis of band sessions...

Some of those tracks I'm sure came alive when Charlie and Ronnie
joined the party, while others probably did not but may still have
been in play during more recent sessions. Or fully-finished style
for bonus cuts.

2) There's suddenly two troubling indicators. The one that has
been mentioned in the GRRR Live thread: that this pay-per-view
turned out to have zero connection to right now. And
sadly here is another one: Stones TikTok seems to have been
a bust. After posting at least one new vid every day the first
ten days, the Stones have had no activity for four days now.
I've also followed engagement by TikTok-ers with the rolling
stones hashtag (by far the most significant metric over there)
and its been close to non-existent. Despite being prodded,
TikTok-ers are simply not making Stones-themed vids.

3) Does this mean that market conditions continue to be
so unfavorable for the Stones that it still makes no sense to
release new music, even if it is (at least by my standards) great?

Maybe. They may have pulled the plug on a new album yet again

I mean, we have the recent Fully-Finished compilation as an
example. Someone like me may think that half of it is among
the finest things they've ever done, but not even I think that
there's been any significant market opportunity for that kind of
dogshit music in the years since it was created.

Anyway, I apologize for raising expectations in this thread. And
now for perhaps dashing them. I really hope their Plan B is march
or april or may and not 2024 or 25 or 26.
