Well, forget my Royal Albert dream, they are apparently locked in
to their original "superstar" format. Never mind the lack of
superstars. They'll just plug in opera, West End, and TV talent.
Or maybe they can still get Boy George...

From the official website:

Attended by a public audience including volunteers from The King
and The Queen Consort’s many charity affiliations, the concert will
see a world-class orchestra play interpretations of musical
favourites fronted by some of the world’s biggest entertainers,
alongside performers from the world of dance and the arts. The
performances will be supported by staging and effects located on
Windsor Castle’s East Lawn and will also feature a selection of
spokenword sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen.

The Sun today:

Live Aid-style gig for Ukraine to pile pressure on Putin
with Pink & U2 set to perform at Wembley this summer

Other greats including The Rolling Stones and The Killers have also
been asked to perform in support of President Volodymyr Zelensky

FYI, there is absolute zero chance that the Rolling Stones will participate

Though I suppose its possible that Mick could be persuaded to come out and
sing Gimme Shelter with U2 and Fergie Pink

Show is rumoured to be Saturday June 24th. The same weekend as Glastonbury. Any major act who will be near the UK that weekend will be at that event (or will have already turned down an invite as they're taking a break or aren't available).

Its a load of bollocks IMO, with the papers basically plucking A-list names out of thin air, regardless of whether they're touring at the time or (in U2's case) not, merely claiming that they've been 'asked' to appear and quoting 'a source' and 'insiders' for the story

Its akin to a game of 'Fantasy Festival'.

Yeah, June 24 seems to be a load of bollocks, but it turns out its
not some group of amateurs with dreams of glory that are behind the
campaign to make this happen, but rather the Ukraine gov itself,
as admitted today by their ambassador to the UK on Sky News

Oh, I'd totally believe that such an event could well be planned . Most of the other stuff though just reads like someone in the office asked everyone to write their favourite band or singer on a bit of paper and then they pulled about ten names out of a hat.

I wouldnt expect Wembley Stadium to confirm any event ahead of it being announced by a promoter anyway, it just seems a bit strange that it would be THAT weekend. Such a show would get wall to wall coverage on the BBC - and as they already show several hours per day from Glastonbury. it would defeat the point of staging it if it wasn't being shown live.

Yeah, but I think the date is the least of the problems with this.
You need a Bob Geldof or Willie Nelson-type figure as the
spearhead, and such figures seem to be in short supply.  For this
cause anyway. Bono just doesnt have the clout currently, and is
sensibly devoting himself to re-building U2's commercial credibility,
in the only way it might be possible, as a greatest hits act in Vegas

That the Ukraine ambassador is leading the charge on Sky News
indicates to me that this effort is doomed. Every single entertainer
they ask is gonna say "Maybe, but get back to me when you have
commitments from four other A-listers."

I don't know what's wrong with musicians today.  They used to jump at the word Charity.

Next year is the 40th anniversary of the Band Aid single. Maybe they're all saving themselves for this. Or maybe the huge amounts if money than can be made on tours these days are just too good to pass up.

I can guess which option they prefer.

It is perhaps worth mentioning that BV has now removed
from his homepage his link for, or any mention whatsoever of,
a possible 2023 stadium/arena tour...

from "definite" to "rumored" to "flushed down the memory hole"

who could have possibly predicted such a turn of events ?

Well, I guess I can mention her, since at the stadium level,
she's now setting the standard...

My God! 70,000 in attendance. 44 songs. 3 hours 14 minutes,
with every single second about her and only her. Anonymous
worker bee singers, dancers. and musicians buzzing around
her at times but never ever in the spotlight. Awesome lighting
and video screens.

It's exactly like the Super Bowl except without any football game...

I thing she's a seriously scary person...

Impressive setlist:

So, is this the unannounced farewell tour for her or will she be retiring half of her catalog?
Who knows, who cares, many do.
One of my Glimmer Twins will hit this up in Philly in May.

1) Other than lifetime earnings, the last major dollar record
held by the Stones is $9.4 million gross per show for No Filter.
I thought that record was untouchable (U2 2nd place $6.9 million
for The Claw), but Swift might break it.

2) Beatlemania lasted like 4 years I guess. I'm talking about
the screaming girls phase. Swiftmania has easily doubled that
now, with no signs of abating. These fans of hers are often
past 30 years old now, but like Swift herself, they are frozen
in their early 20s. What's funny is that even her younger teenage
fans sorta start out thinking theyre 21 and just stay at that age.

3) If you can stomach the first 20 or 30 minutes of this fan
vlog of the first two shows, you'll learn a lot about the
mentality of these child-women...

4) If you can't, I'll cut to the chase for you. This is the
message of all Swift's songs: "Narcissistic men are the
greatest evil in the world. And the only solution is to
become a completely narcissistic woman." And its a
message that sells bigly.  Unfortunately.

5) Their poor husbands (if they ever get one). Their poor sons
(if they ever bear one). DPFL. Disney Princesses For Life.

6) So I would say that the artist that Taylor Swift most reminds
me of is Oprah Winfrey. Plenty of talent, yes. But its mostly just
a clever hardworking woman hustling her vulnerable followers.

7) So is it essentially a cult? In a subtle way, sorta. In the sense
that the only real beneficiary of the dispensed "wisdom" is
the leader herself

Alright, fight fans, let's recap: (scoring out of a possible 10 each round)

Round 1, January: BV and revvy both see the album and tour as
imminent, BV based on sources, revvy based on the TikTok/ppv/viral
initiatives. 0-0 DRAW

Round 2, Feb: BV goes all-in, album and tour to be announced
in 5 days. In response, based upon the viral flop, revvy also goes
all-in, album not til Christmas season, no summer tour. In fact
no tour at all this year. 5-0 REVVY

Round 3, March: BV maintains the simultaneous tour-album plan
is still in effect, just delayed a little. Revvy's position unchanged.
Then suddenly BV changes his position. Big tour late summer,
but album not til Christmas time. 5-0 REVVY

BUT remember it's not too late for BV to pull out a win, or at
least a draw. If the Stones do a regular 14-show mini tour this
year, I think you would have to give the last round to BV 10-0.

We await the bell for the final round...

RONNIE "TECHNICOLOR" WOOD DRESSED ALL IN BLACK!

(all pics recent, via google news)

The re-branding has begun

"We're not stadium entertainers.  We're a working blues band"

...

Ronnie apparently has a small charity gig coming up tonite
or tomorrow nite, with Chanel Haynes i think. Probably
small-ish charity gigs will be a key part of the upcoming
album promotion

When? Rumored dates? I don't want to have to travel a long ways to see them. I want to be as close to home as possible due to the advanced ages of the members. It's taking me almost a decade to get my chance to see them.

more with Chanel "rock me baby"

great Shangri-Las cover, with Imelda May

Yeah, they got the blues/For you
So maybe i'm right?
Maybe this is indeed the return of The Rollin' Stones
Maybe this is actually night 1 of the tour
Although admittedly a few key members of the band are still missing.
Can't wait for night 2! *

Addendum: "Simply the best". Amazing camera work by Matt Lee

* I can understand if you think I'm joking, but I'm not.
This is the start of exactly what I've anticipated from the
Stones this year.  This is the promotional tour for the new
album. Chanel, Ben and Ronnie are all on the album. Now watch
as the cast of characters shifts and grows from one small gig to
the next, and  the next, and the next, as the new tracks slowly
enter the setlists, right up to and through the release dates.
(In fact, some of these cover songs by Ronnie and company will
probably be covered by the Stones on the album). The whole first
part of this promo tour will be in London, then more of the UK and
(maybe) Europe, then finishing up in America. Happy 2023!

Holy Shit. Good guess revvy!

We have proof...

You'll recall that in his recent interview on australian radio,
Ben Waters said he had supplied some Jerry Lee Lewis piano
on the new Stones album.

Well, last night Ronnie and Company ("the fractional stones")
played the "Lewis Boogie", with Ben on lead vocals, substituting
for Mick...

There you go! A track from the new Stones album premiered live.

And a genuine boogie at that, just for you Voo
