The latest from BV
Perhaps not a change of tune
But certainly a change of tone

I have not seen any rumoured shows in August yet
So I am not sure if they will do more than the usual set of 14 shows.
What I do have indications of is tour start early June.

Any MN rumors?? I don't want to have to travel to see them -- due to their ages it can get risky to travel and have the show all of a sudden not happen. I was the same way in 2019 with The Who.

No rumors but I would put it as unlikely considering they just played there in 2021. There could always be a wildcard city closer in proximity like Madison, Green Bay, Fargo, whatever stadium in Omaha Motley Crue is playing.

I hope they play Buffalo, considering they were unable to reschedule that last time around.
Raleigh-Durham are 50/50 since they played RAL 2015 and CLT 2021, DUR'm 2006...DC would be great, always is!

Fingers' crossed for all of us!!

fwiw, Noise11/Paul Cashmere have broken the media
silence with both (1) a non-confirmation of the tour, and
(2) an unsourced confirmation of the album

While it has been confirmed The Rolling Stones will release their
first album of original material since 2005 in the coming months,
dates for a North American tour are also starting to surface.
Stones fansite iorr.org has been compiling expected dates...
The dates may or may not be accurate...

...and, for what little its worth, here's my current guess:

the album right after Labor Day, with the various bonus versions
of the album being released right up to Christmas, with there being
some USA hot-ticket arena-or-smaller gigs during this period,
likely including SNL. No big shows til early 2024 (way down south)

I guess I don't share the optimism here. Way too many other acts coming out this year. Can't see Jagger wanting to be embarrassed by weak sales versus freaking Taylor Swift and others. The demand at their recent price levels isn't there imo. I mean the recent Grrr live cyber cast likely had less than 1000 buys. Sorry to say folks but the walls are closing in..it was sure a fabulous run though.

Les than 1,000 wow, probably it was as the fans wanto see them live only, and that many bought the stuff

But to be honest, I'm not optimistic anymore, I think the end es near and the best thing is to retire with digniity.

Well they seem to be forging ahead, not sure what he would have to be embarrassed about, all in the eye of the beholder I guess.

And who buys cybercasts anyway? I really had no idea there was one.

Assuming no tragedy strikes in the intervening months there is going to be another tour.

Extreme weirdness

Event 1:  It was reported on iorr.org's tour thread that long-time
fan Hendrik Mulder had just said on facebook, based on his
own sources, that the tour won't be in the summer (but later)

Event 2: Immediately thereafter, BV deleted all posts that
mentioned Mulder or the postponement, so that it would
look like BV broke the news, not Mulder. Pathetic.

Event 3: BV announces in his news section that the summer
tour is off, and may be re-scheduled for the autumn

Editorial comment: BV will swear on a stack of bibles that
the tour was definitely on, and that it is a shock that
they have turned it off for some unknown reason. No doubt,
to save face, he'll publish some bullshit reason soon.

Let me tell ya something: Once the viral/TikTok/ppv/DuaLipa
strategy was abandoned, there was ZERO chance of the tour
happening in June. I went "all in" on this proposition 5 days
ago on this thread.

Touring places like Cleveland and Edmonton would have been
a death sentence for the new album. The very idea of it was
ridiculous. The new album is a HUGE priority for them and it
will be properly marketed pre-Christmas with indoor publicity-gigs
and high-profile media appearances. With the emphasis, of course,
on New York and Los Angeles

That's kinda disappointing but even more so I'm really worried now that this might be about a health issue...altho I think Ronnie (at least) seemed fine...all hopping and dancing around in some videos he and Sally posted over the last few days...idk about Mick and Keith but I mean they're almost 80 and even if Mick is Mick, we've seen that he isn't invincible...

The latest from BV:

From my understanding, there is a non-critical issue that
keeps them from committing to the tour this summer, at this
stage. No worries. They just need to look into options of doing
these shows after summer, i.e. fall time.

My guess is that it's an insurance related issue that is ultimately related to health - even if it's not critical.

Why do people believe nonsense?

Think for one minute please. There were never any signed
contracts. Venue sources cited options at only four
locations, all of them ridiculous in terms of marketing an album
under current 2023 market conditions. Unless you only care
about reaching your base.

If the Stones only cared about reaching their base, they could
have released at least 4 new albums over the last 17 years,
they have that much strong material. What they havent had
is any path to reach a broader public, who doesnt give a shit
about the Stones.

A gimmick, if you will. For example, the best gimmick of the
last 10 years: that silly fictional Bohemian Rhapsody movie.
Suddenly there were 1000s of TikToks with youngsters miming
and dancing to Queen. That band's American-Idol sound and
catalog went viral and hasnt stopped since.

The Stones would love to have that. But frankly there's not
enough kids with ears these days. There's enough to make
a decent-sized ripple with the youngsters, but not a big splash.
And without the kids, you can sell an album for one week
to your base, and thats it. No matter how great it is.

So the Stones simply said "fuck it, we're not gonna release
our best shit and have it ignored. All that would do is hurt
our reputation and ticket sales. So if that means nothing
gets released til after there is no more Stones, so be it"

But now theyve got a plan for this Christmas time. A massive
release of strong new material with a sharply focused marketing
campaign. 2023 is only about this big big album that shows
off every facet of the Stones and every genre that theyve
mastered. Its not about Edmonton Canada. This album will
greatly enhance their legacy, whether it goes viral or not. Because
of its sheer size and audacity. A rock'n'roll Burj Khalifa.

Back to BV's fictional Tour: According to BV, literally two days
ago 14 contracts had been signed and the announcement was
scheduled for Friday, but now suddenly for no "critical" reason
theyve decided to pay all those big cancellation penalties
and just walk away.

What a silly premise. Some of you people will believe anything.

As planned, no tour this year. Probably next year, the southern
hemisphere early, the USA late summer, Europe 2025.

This year its just the ALBUM and the smaller venue gigs
promoting it. Focus your ticket efforts there. Start with
the SNL season 49 opener (date TBD)

I saw an alleged tour schedule that had one other confounding city on it but there is a pretty good reason they probably won't be playing any stadium shows in LA this time around ... Market saturation and they papered the hell out of the first night at SoFi 2021 (the 2nd added show). Not to exclude smaller shows or promotional appearances, but I am pretty sure any future tour will still have 14-15 shows.

The band is totally delusional if they think playing already oversaturated markets (LA) over a place like Edmonton where the stadium would be overflowing or throwing 250k on a music video will push this record past 200k units.

But I agree it should be a great album as the only motivation to put it out now would be for themselves.

We will see what happens, now I can get on with my summer plans without worrying about this.

Guys think! The world is heading towards a war footing- Jagger knows it, don't want to tour in that shit. Keep an eye on Putin. Shit's crazy out there- Jagger lurks on the politics thread.
Tour is cancelled due to a possible huge flare up globally. Jagger has connections that know. Last tour worked- this one won't...
