Was holding off judgment till I heard the whole thing, but heard the sample in my car yesterday and very loud, and it sounded really really good. The whole Andrew Watt credit, if true, really pisses me off though. Not that people don't deserve credit, but all the others who didn't get any credit must be feeling great that some outsider now gets in on the money while they were all fleeced.

Situational irony can be generally understood as a situation
that includes contradictions or sharp contrasts.

Some speakers of English complain that the words irony and
ironic are often misused, though the more general casual usage
of "a contradiction in outcomes" originated in the 1640s. Even
mere coincidence or "bad luck" has long been seen popularly
as the type of situational irony known as cosmic irony,
where it is felt that it is Fate or Destiny making the joke.

So what you wrote contains not just irony, but double-irony.
There's a humorous contrast 1) between the title of the song
and your anger at Watt getting credit, and 2) between you
expressing both strong pleasure and strong pain from the
existence of the same new thing.

You could even say there's a triple-irony in you joining in with
the rather large group of fans who are getting the new song
they demanded but who (hilariously) just can't help themselves
from instantly finding something to complain about.

The floor is now yours for counter-argument

Suffice to say that there are plenty of logical fallacies to point out in your response, but can't really be tossed to fully engage in "counter-argument". I will point out though that you seem to be the type of fan who believes that getting a new song is all that matters, and everything else has to be put aside. As for "hilariously", then you seem easily amused, and "instantly" is laughable because for those familiar with my posts on this board (few though they may be), I have pointed out the more venal and nasty side of the Stones for years. You can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Apparently what you find offensive is that I found your post contained
enough self-contradiction to be ironic and therefore humorous

You know what else I find, in retrospect, to be ironic and humorous ?

That I reacted so strongly against the first 24 hours of the Hackney
advertising campaign.

If I would have known that the "bat signal" phase of the campaign
was only going to last 24 hours, or that Mick was going to sing
"don't get angry with me", I would have understood for sure that
the Stones were taking the piss.

I even wrote at the time about the "bat signal" campaign: "This
can't be sincere, they must be taking the piss"

Too bad I didn't listen to me. Too bad I then, just a few hours later,
took actual offense. Me, who loves the Stones when they are being
offensive, taking offense at something that turned out to be trivial

Yeah, quite ironic and funny, I'm sure you'd agree

Looks like its gonna be triple-wordplay again...

(I can't get no) Satisfaction

The parenthetical phrase 1) contains a double-negative, which
2) therefore modifies the main title Satisfaction in an intentionally
imprecise way, so that the koan-like theme comes to the fore: Always
try try try to find satisfaction, even though it is not possible. The only
satisfaction is in the trying.

Now we get the new song, where the parentheses are implied by the
marketing campaign...

(Don't get) Angry (with me)

A title implying "don't get angry", "angry", "angry with me", and
"don't get angry with me" (which makes it I guess not just triple-
but quadruple-wordplay). Mick's lesson this time will be about the
world's current pent-up volcanic anger, and how we as individuals
must harness and/or defuse our own anger and not project it
carelessly onto those who are not at the root of our problems
(while the media tries to provoke us into doing exactly that)

I have a feeling the album will be out one month after the press conference Wednesday. Prolly Friday October 6, 2023 .. I don't think it will come out any later than that due to Taylor Swift's release / re-release later in October which they will not want to collide with and due to the fact that I would assume they do not want to ring this thing out TOoooo much .. There is a fine line between building good hype and in great marketing versus over-marketing/overdoing it or carrying it on for a bit it too long.

*Ok .. As a side note to the above and so it is not taken incorrectly ... I have been given no hints Nor been privy to any inside information what-so-ever leading me to believe this .. (believe me .. I WISH I would of had some inside information about the matter leading up to this point). Anyway .. It is solely based my own thoughts.
