Hackney Diamonds is still a great title for a lead single though.
Especially one with Paul. And maybe even Ringo. OMG Elton too?!

And Mick. And Keith. And Ronnie.

Now THAT would be fucking English

Imagine an old-timey band shot with them six as the cover art

It just says "Hackney Diamonds". The name of the song and
the name of the mythical "band"

Is it gimmicky?

Sheesh.

Only one of the best gimmicks in the history of show business!
If the song was any good at all, the world would flip its lid.
Proceeds to charity.

1) It would be quite odd to start a new website for a Stones
album, but not for a charity single by the "Hackney Diamonds".
You would want no mingling of the financial accounts.
"Hacky D" could move a mountain of merch.

2) The only charity I could find supported by Paul, Elton,
and the Stones is "Save the Children". Founded in England
in 1919, and still headquartered there, it seems to have
support from across the political spectrum and does work
in 117 countries.

3) So that could be another meaning of "shattered diamonds".
That is, what's currently happening to precious children in
communities under pressure, like Hackney. Like Kyiv. Like
almost everywhere

4) There's a seemingly somewhat wired-in contributor on the
Hoffman forum named Carlo who's been planting seeds for a
while now. He's been saying that he thinks "Hackney Diamonds"
is a single, that will be announced Sep 6 and released Sep 8

5) The (first version of the) Stones album would then come in
October, perhaps with the Stones' own less sentimental, less
kumbaya version of "hackney diamonds", and with a less
English, more aggressive title for their mega album

Makes a bit of sense? Sorta? Who knows

Ngo Diamonds, Mare St Hackney, 2015, still in business

...

Hacky D sez:
“Don't get angry, get it fixed.”

1) Putting aside for the moment all the good reasons there are for them to
possibly shine a light on the extreme suffering of so many children these
days, I must confess that the thought of the Stones teasing us for this
long and then, at the last moment, making us endure some Paul/Elton
balladeering for a few weeks before we finally get to hear the real deal...

well, I'm sitting here laughing at the very thought. No music act, not even
Dylan, has ever pranked their own fanbase even a fraction as much as
the Stones, but this might just take the cake

2) My guess was right last week. Ronnie's new painting "Blacksmiths",
released today, COULD indeed be used as wrap-around cover art for one
of the special editions of the new album...

...

...but let's talk about why Satan has been given the spotlight, and why
Ronnie completely denies this obvious fact...

"THE HEROIC BLACKSMITH HAS INSPIRED ARTISTS FOR CENTURIES -
HARNESSING FIRE TO FORGE OBJECTS OF STRENGTH AND POWER."

Uh, then why are the Stones the ones wearing the blacksmith's aprons?
And why did you give the "blacksmith" a pointy beard and arched
eyebrows? And why is the blacksmith Devil just sitting there chilling,
making an origami shark?

So... anyway... This weird new painting, not part of any show or series,
shows up out of nowhere, with a disingenuous artist's statement, and I'm
supposed to think it has NOTHING to do with the new album?

"In European folklore, the blacksmith has sometimes been associated
with malevolence (the medieval vision of Hell may draw upon the image
of the smith at his forge), and several variant tales tell of smiths entering
into a pact with the devil to obtain fire and the means of smelting metal."
from The Blacksmith in Mythology and Lore

Hmm. Actually, i think "Blacksmiths", in the full medieval sense of
the word, would be an excellent title for their new album

Thanks to Cristiano Radtke for unearthing this bit of publishing news from ASCAP's home page and sharing it on The Complete Works Database facebook page

https://www.ascap.com/repertory?fbclid=IwAR1hTknP6DiJHzDl5APpbuX2lkSNnYlpxwjBnCL...

It lists 48 Promopub song titles including a few Jagger/Richards song titles that we've never heard of before :

Angry (written by Jagger/Richards and Andrew Watt)
Bite My Head Off
Depending On You (Jagger/Richards/Andrew Watt)
Dreamy Skies
Driving Me Too Hard
Get Close (Jagger/Richards/Andrew Watt)
Live By The Sword
Mess It Up
Morning Joe Cues
Sweet Sounds Of Heaven
Tell Me Straight
Whole Wide World

'Driving Me too Hard' was one of the songs listed as being recorded in late 2015

Andrew Watt has of course been speculated as the producer of some of the songs on the new album

Just a reminder of some of the clips Mick has uploaded on social media in 2019-20 or so

These may or may not be on the new album or could be there under different titles

And thanks to Gazza too for getting it here quickly...

The big news is obviously Andrew Watt designated as a co-writer...

BUT

1) The info comes from the ASCAP search function known as SONGVIEW

Songview is the product of a collaboration between ASCAP and BMI
that provides music users with an authoritative view of ownership shares
for performing rights in the vast majority of music licensed in the United
States...
Aggregated ownership data for more than 20 million musical
works in their combined repertories

2) So somebody please explain why, when you search for PROMOPUB BV,
you only get a result of 47 songs in total?! In all of history?! With only
26 of them identifying the Stones as the "performer"?!

3) So I searched for writer "Michael Philip Jagger" and got a more
reasonable 563 results (but still WAY under-counted, since there is
supposed to be a separate entry for every cover version by anybody).
And the results have other bugs. For "Ain't No Use in Crying" it states
"no performer found".  The same for "Blue Turn to Grey" and "Country
Honk" and who know what else, since I've had enough at this point...

4) So unless somebody can explain these anomalies, there is no reason
at this point to trust that the new-song ASCAP data is necessarily
accurate or complete. Quite the opposite in fact.

It was interesting to me that almost all of those other songs listed were ABKCO era songs. Many of them from 'Metamorphosis'.  Very odd.  To be honest, I dont really understand the ins and outs of their publishing arrangements

Anyway, we have 12 new titles listed. So, thats probably more or less the 12 songs they'll be releasing on the new album (of course there could be a cover or two as well)

For the reasons I've stated, I cannot agree. I think this list has probably
been somehow manipulated by the Stones. Not completely useless
information. But definitely designed to mis-fire our imaginations in
a particular way. Thus preserving the eventual surprise

I wonder if the image with the heart broken in two by the dagger will be the cover of the album as shown on Wikipedia or will it be the one with the lettering that reads Rolling Stones in glass shards? Or perhaps another one of the variations?

Neither. Mick would never allow the real image to leak. The images of hers
that we've seen so far are merely her "audition tape". If she made the cut
for one of the album art versions, I can guarantee you we haven't seen
that image yet...

Also, 100% I was correct and Ronnie is prevaricating. It is the Devil.
And here's the proof, the precise inspiration for Ronnie's painting...

...

"The Smith and the Devil" is an ancient Indo-European fairy tale,
recounted by the Brothers Grimm among others. The story is of a smith
who makes a pact with a malevolent being — commonly the Devil —
selling his soul for power, but then tricking the Devil out of his prize and
re-gaining his soul...

Fucking perfect! That settles it! The name of the Stones' new album
is absolutely positively BLACKSMITHS

"Hackney Diamonds" is a charity side project

What a clickbait headline.

More hot air.  You'd be forgiven from this and recent interviews for thinking that they've binned everything they've recorded between 2015 - when these sessions started - and this year.

Seriously - how difficult can it be for a band with two songwriters (three in fact) to record a dozen releasable songs over a time frame of seven years?

I predict two things

- this aint happening in 2022

- this aint bringing Ian Billen back.

Presumably he co wrote 3 of the songs with Mick (I cant imagine him co-writing with Keith). So, as per Mick and Keith's long time arrangement it gets credited to Jagger-Richards-Watt

Same system as when Woody, Pierre de Beauport or Steve Jordan co-wrote with Keith in the past.  The 'outside' songwriter only gets a third of the credit instead of 50%

I dont think Ronnie has had a co-composer credit since Dirty Work. He had four on that record. Chuck Leavell even had one as well.

Yezzer... I realize that but I wanted to play it safe. If the album is coming by Oct-6 to Oct 20 ... A First week of September 'announcement' would make sense. Prolly the first single will come not long after ... week or two .. if not quicker (things move a bit faster than in the past after announcements).

I hear / saw Sept 8th as an announcement date floating around? I can't remember where. Who knows.. could have been jus another guess.

I agree with what you’re surmising. I was just thinking about how easy it must’ve been for this new producer guy to get a cowriting credit, while full fledged band members such as Taylor and Wood it’s been near impossible over the years. I know nothing about Watt but Jagger must value his credibility to allow him cowriting credits.

Securing specific titles and names for artists, album titles and tour titles on social media apps is nothing new. It happens all the time and is not unusual at all. Their entire last tour was based on exactly that #nofilter

Hackney Diamonds instagram probably changed their name one time. First hackneydiamonds2023 and now hackneydiamonds. hackneydiamonds also placed a photo. They first became member on Instagram in August 2023 the second in April 2023. The second changed their name once.
