Asked whether he still listens to the Stones, he said: “I do, but it’s not

better… It was great when I was in the Stones and I loved every minute
of it, but it was time to move on and do different things. I like the variety
of music… country music, reggae, blues.”

My main take-away from this interview is that Bill on bass will be
another one of the guest appearances on the new Stones album

I nailed it almost a month ago by reading between the lines.
That's what an intelligence analyst does. For example, watching a
video of a state dinner in North Korea to try to figure out who's
coming out better in the latest power struggle.

Its the same way I know Dolly Parton will be on the album, watching
her recent interviews where she was talking about Jagger.

But let's not overstate this guest thing. Paul and Bill playing bass on
one track each, on a 50-track album, is great fun and great publicity
(the same goes for Elton playing piano, if that turns out to be true),
but guest players is really not a big deal or anything new.

What would be sort of a big deal is any guest doing shared lead
vocals. So I doubt that will extend much beyond Dolly and Gaga.
Except for touring band members Chanel and Bernard, who I think
are also going to get some spotlight time.

Good for you buddy, too many kids your age want to grow up to be astronauts or influencers. It may not be as glamorous, but the world needs experts in nuclear diplomacy.

Back to reality- an appearance from Dolly is more than feasible, I'll even go with likely. Her popularity has been enjoying a renaissance in recent years and it would do wonders for Mick & the band's image to have her featured. I just wish that weren't the case, because the single she just put out is one of the worst songs I've heard since Sweet Neo Con.

Great amazing new album ready to go still kept totally under wraps. Not a single leak and limited rumors.
Damn, put Stones Inc in charge of classified Government documents!

Even more amazing is that Dolly managed to record in secrecy with
20 rock acts, including their big-mouth lead singers...

NDAs work wonders. As well as the fear that your contribution could
easily be tossed into the outtakes bin, should you break radio silence

Exhibit A:
Country Albums Are Half of the Billboard 200 Top 10
for the First Time in Nearly a Decade

Exhibit B:
Rolling Stones TikTok with an excerpt from the Faraway
Eyes vid, captioned "The Stones in their element --
on this anniversary of the “Some Girls” album all we
can think about is Ronnie on the pedal steel"

Is this enough evidence to conclude we're getting a
good-sized helping of country music on the new album?

Yep.

Its the only current guitar-heavy genre that still has a big
record-buying audience, with plenty of Stones fans, so it
just makes sense to tilt that way. Including a promo gig
at the Opry (also NYC, LA and London, different setlists,
all four shows filmed (PPVs?) -- rehearsals start August)

At this point, I don't really give a toss about what's on it because of Bill being on it. Even if the album is shite, to hear him and Charlie again on something new is enough for me.

To drive my point home, Rolling Stones TikTok just
followed up with the lyric vid for "Wild Horses"

It is well known at this point that "Rocking the Blues", the new
album from The Rolling Stones, will be flying into a strong cultural
headwind that has already cut short the recent flights of U2,
Metallica and the Foo Fighters. And now here's the latest indication
that the classic rock genre may well be caught in a death spiral.
The new album from uber-legend Bob Dylan has opened (and will
peak) at #71 on the Billboard 200, the worst sales performance
for the world famous artist since his first album 61 years ago.
This is particularly shocking because Dylan's prior album in 2020
peaked at #2 and he had #1 albums as recently as 2006 and 2009.

To be fair, Dylan's album "Shadow Kingdom" is a compilation of songs
from his previous works accompanied by new vocals and an Americana
style band. Who could have guessed that Bob of all people would
follow U2's idiotic strategy of covering one's own songs? Nobody's
interested. This is not 1993, and "unplugged" is not a thing.

************************************************************

Remember the Feb 2 2023 PPV that re-broadcast the 2012 Newark
Rolling Stones/Lady Gaga show via the innovative livestream
company Kiswe? Well, you could be forgiven if you don't, since
reportedly only 5000 people bought into it. Nobody, on any of
the Stones' fan forums, could make heads or tails out of this
seemingly very strange business decision...

Ah, but now, in light of the revelation that the Stones will produce
four (4 !!!) very special Kiswe PPVs later this year, the odd Newark
re-broadcast begins to make sense as a "shakedown cruise" in
preparation for these important and unprecedented promotional
gigs in LA, NYC, London and Nashville.

It is rumored that each show will have a completely different
set-list featuring both material from their new album as well
as classics and deep-cuts from their extensive catalog. No word
on pricing yet...

************************************************************

A special shout-out to all our IORRaqi readers, especially
"GasLightStreet", who has shown great courage and wisdom in
spreading the rumour we started here about a month ago...

"If Lady Gaga were to guest hopefully it would be for her talent and
not because she's a huge star - and that it would be a meaningful
artistic collaboration..."

Don't worry, Skippy, it will be !!!

************************************************************

Rolling Stones producer Andrew Watt has started following Lady Gaga
and her manager Bobby Campbell on instagram (Bobby followed back).

In case you didnt know, Watt was brought in to "punch up" a few of
the tracks on the Stones' new album including a proposed single
that will feature the singer/actress. It is also rumoured that
Gaga will star in the video for the single, to be directed by
Todd Phillips, who recently wrapped up shooting Joker 2 starring
Gaga alongside academy award winner Joaquin Phoenix.

The other producer credits on the Stones' 50-track album will go to
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Don Was, Steve Jordan, and Matt Clifford.

1) I should have mentioned that Todd Phillips started his career doing
rock music documentaries

2) I should have also mentioned that Todd Phillips got Jagger's permission
to include a funny comment about the Stones in "Hangover 2". You know
how various of the Stones have at times had a substance abuse problem?
A "monkey on their back", so to speak. Well, in the movie, an important
character, the monkey, has the Stones on his back...

Bill Wyman Punches Mick Jagger During Recording Session Reunion

By Joey
June 16, 2023 7:06 AM

...

Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman punched Mick Jagger in the nose today. The incident occurred during a recording studio reunion with Wyman more than 30 years after he left the group. Wyman, 86, will be featured on a song on the Stones’ upcoming album.

Bill Wyman Vs Mick Jagger

In a shocking turn of events during a routine recording session, legendary Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman delivered a punch that reverberated through the music industry. And the recipient? None other than the charismatic frontman himself, Mick Jagger! As fans worldwide tried to wrap their heads around the unexpected altercation, we couldn’t help but see the humorous side of this rock ‘n’ roll showdown.

Lead singer Mick Jagger, 79, reportedly invited Wyman to recording sessions in Los Angeles to work on the track. “Bill hasn’t seen the band together for years but always loved Charlie. This record’s really a tribute to Charlie, so he couldn’t say no,” a source reported.

Wyman left the Stones in 1993 after 30 years with the band. “It was quite stressful and they didn’t want me to leave, so they became bitchy. Instead of being nice and saying Great 30 years, Cheers mate, Mick would say the most absurd, stupid things, with that spoilt attitude he had. He’d say things like: ‘Oh well, if anybody has to play bass I’ll do it. It can’t be that hard if a dummy like Bill can do it’ — and Keith [Richards] said: ‘No one leaves this band unless they’re in a wooden box and he pulled a switch blade on me.’ Keith tried to cut me, security had to pull him off of me. The maniac threatened to gut me like a fish.”

Tea & Sympathy

Things started off nicely in the studio as they exchanged pleasantries. The band had some tea and reminisced about the old days. As the recording began, old tensions arose. Wyman told Madhouse News, “I was working out the bass line when Mick started telling me what to play. He was snapping his fingers in my face and poking in me in the chest. Jagger was always quite the tyrant in the studio. I really hated when he would get close in my face because he tends to spit during pronunciations of the letter ’S’. He may be doing it on purpose.”

Wyman, drenched in Jagger’s spit, lost it after Mick started making fun of Bill’s solo work. “Don’t play any of that Monkey Grip crap” screamed Jagger. “I know your Mum bought both copies of that album.” This was a dig at Wyman’s 1974 solo album titled “Monkey Grip”. Bill quietly placed his bass down and let a right hook fly that caught Jagger right in the nose. Mick collapsed like a sack of potatoes. Wyman then quietly resumed his bass playing. Mick started to come back at Bill when Wyman warned him, “You might walk over here Mick but you will be limping back. I hope your medical insurance premiums are up to date.”

A hush fell over the studio. You could cut the tension in the room with a knife. Then Jagger started laughing. Then Richards and Wyman, soon the whole room was in hysterics and Mick and Bill hugged it out. “Mick need a good ass whipping every 30 years or so to keep things fresh” laughed Wyman. The band then continued recording. We cant wait to hear the album.

Ya know, I used to teach meditation, which is basically
holding on, for 25 or 30 minutes, to one thought only,
thereby stilling the mind, which produces proven physical
and mental benefits. When Mick disappears alone for half
an hour into his limo or room after each show, that's why.

Or you can climb up into the Himalayas and find extreme
practicioners who go into a meditative state for hours.
Or even days... Om Shanti... Shanti Shanti Om...

But even in the Himalayas you would be hard-pressed to
to find a Holy Man who could hold on to only one thought
for an entire month...

So don't anybody call our "queef" a useless twit or dumb ass.
That would be a very superficial judgement. In reality he's a
Zen master and, with his silver tongue and quick wit, he would
i think make a damn fine politician. Maybe even be President...

If I become President
I know I wouldn't last a day
I would lower all your taxes
Just to suit your taste

I'd bring home all the fellers
From over in Vietnam
Station them around your door
So the world can't do you no harm

I'd name every street in the city
Honey, after you
So I could never be President
Just so long as I'm loving you

(p.s. MS-IORR's industry insider "georgelicks" is now saying that
the record biz is whispering that the Stones' November album will
be announced in July
, to coincide with Mick's birthday, thus taking
advantage of the publicity generated by his 80th...    WRONG!
I must continue to insist that the first version of the album will drop
with little to no warning mid-Sept. Poor IORRaqis, being misled again)

Arriving in NYC yesterday, for marketing meetings this week. Seems
to be adjusting well to his new artificial ankle...

As you recall I have connections where there are none. I was able to get some partial lyrics to a new song on the album.

"Old farts still linger c'mon baby just pull my finger".
