Has this been the longest in between tours that The Stones had? hopefully Ronnie will get himself back together for 2011, that gives him a year, it would be great if he stuck with the winners, people in that field who have battled alcoholism-Pete Townshend & Eric Clapton come to mind, instead of all these hanger-ons like that Kat, but then that's his choice, he's the one who does it, she's just making money selling her stories to those newspapers, the higher the price the better, & if this doesn't wise him up, I don't know what will.
Longest gaps until now :
Tattoo You -> Steel Wheels (1982-89) - 7 years, 1 month
Steel Wheels -> Voodoo Lounge (1990-94) - 3 years 11 months
Bridges To Babylon -> Licks (1999-2002) - 3 years 2 months
Some Girls -> Tattoo You (1978-81) - 3 years 2 months
At the minute, its 2 years and just over 4 months. It'll probably be at least a 3 and a half year gap between Bigger Bang and the next tour. Maybe four.
However, the significant difference between the above 'gaps' and this one is that the band was never totally inactive (apart from 1999-2002) and in every case, at least some of them played on more than a few occasions. Charlie's recent and ongoing boogie woogie shows are the only standard-length gigs any of the band has undertaken since August 2007.
Being inactive for a while when you're in your 40's or even 50's is bad enough. Taking three or four years off in your mid 60s and then picking it up again as if nothing's happened isn't so easy.
