the economy is tanking! the republic is doomed!

today, as i was walking through the halls of school, i pulled down a sign hanging on the wall amidst the other election signs (it's student council election time of the year, and the hallways are peppered with "vote for me for class president" signs...). this sign had a pic of the principal's head photoshopped onto a guy in full russian military regailia...the sign read "down with the czar! end the repression!" on it....the Rs and Ns were backwards, all russian style. i took it into the office and had a good laugh with the principal's secretary and one of the counselors.

So Wamu goes under the biggest bank failure of all time.Killinger the former CEO made 54 million in five years.His replacement Fishman on the job for almost 3 weeks!!!!! got a 5 million sign on and is legally entitled to almost 12 million in severance.FFS....Meanwhile thousands of honest employees and investors get raped.They outta tax CEO severance at 150%.Right now my 200.5K plan looks like shit too.

i don't know maybe jokes about the present situation over there aren't considered too funny (i'm surprised none of you have mentioned it) but i had to laugh when i read in the national weekend paaper down here that the response to the crisis put forward by Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson is called the Troubled Asset Relief Programme or (get this) TARP

i mean bloody hell, is the US government taking PR if not fiscal advice from Michael Cohl?? - if you want to make things appear better and more profitable than they really are put up some "tarps"!!
