RIP Linda Lewis (1950 - 2023)

Too young to die!

In addition to her solo career, she was a singer for many greats including Peter Green (original Fleetwood Mac), Family (album "Bandstand" with John Wetton), Al Kooper, Rod Stewart, David Bowie (at least on Aladdin Sane) , Cat Stevens, Rick Wakeman (Lisztomania with Roger Daltrey), Oasis, Chris Spedding

Joss Stone covered Linda Lewis' "Sideway Shuffle" on "The Soul Sessions, Vol. 2"

She was married to Jim Cregan (Family/Rod Stewart)

Here a song written by Linda... "Follow The Piper" from her first album "Say No More" (1971)

RIP Francis Monkman (1949 - 2023)

He was brilliant, I gotta admit I just have a few records with him and a lot of things he did that have not even listened but have some material from Curved Air, Sky and guest appearances with many

In addition to his work with Curved Air, Sky and his solo albums he worked with Kate Bush, Rennaisance, Brian Eno, Alan Parsons, Alan Howkshaw, Phil Manzanera, Camel, the SPLHCB by Peter Frampton and Bee Gees (nobody's perfect LOL),

he cowrote this one from The Quest by Yes (2021)

Here the few records I have with his bands, and have some of his guest appearances with other artists

Pete Brown, countercultural poet, singer and Cream lyricist, dies aged 82

British poet who wrote lyrics for Sunshine of Your Love, White Room and many more also had acclaimed solo career

As you know, I use to post obis to honor any rock-related musician as soon as I know, even some great musicians that maybe I’m the only one on this board who is familiar with or actors like Richard Belzer, only rock related for his brilliant and funny impersonation of Mick Jagger dancing!

But today was different

Early in the morning, I received a WhatsApp message from Gazza with the sad news, the only thing I did was to change the header, didn’t have words to express my feeling I was devastated

This Friday we were going to do a Pete Brown radio show, but we're going to do a Tina Turner show.

Rest in peace, rest in love Tina, I love you!

She had been fighting health issues.
Saw her twice open for the Stones in 81.
Saw her at the infamous show at The "old" Ritz in 84,
(a roommates brother who worked there got us tkts).

A talent, beauty, stage presence, and personality, second to none...
OK, Maybe Jagger ties for that...but she had legs that didn't stop!
They were a force toe performed together.

RIP Miss Turner.

I am so saddened to hear of Tina’s passing. There is so much I would like to say about her but feel I am at a loss for words.

She was the most wonderful and warm person with whom I’ve been friends since the early 60’s. She was one dynamic performer I ever have known. She had a great voice and a beautiful feel for a song. I will miss her forever! My deepest condolences to her family.

Rest in Peace, Tina!
