I loved it.  It was the natural choice of song for the occasion, like a New Orleans second line following a funeral.
Not sure why some people think a more difficult, or challenging, song was needed. It's not figure skating after all. By the same token, since the song is basically an extended vamp, I don't really see why the rest of the Stones couldn't have rehearsed that one tune. I reckon because it would take a team of lawyers six weeks to work out the specifics for each band member.

And you're right about it being regrettable that the Stones couldnt have bothered their arses to get together for a few hours to rehearse this. Pretty much what I said at the start of the thread. A missed opportunity to show the world that they still EXIST. A song thats pretty easy to play and which they nailed night after night on the Licks tour.

Do you think the ideal was ever brought up to Keith at all. Or was this a not so subtle FU to Keith for the book. Even if it wasn't intentional. People are talking about Mick's onstage performance and not what he wrote in a book. Me thinks that's a good thing. stu-smiling

Good point. Which reminds me to ask seeing as I've only watched the performance on a cell phone....

Did his cock look normally proportioned?

Not that I care one way or the other, I'm just surprised some people havent mentioned it yet....  Blank Frigging Stare

How many people in the world can pull of a performance like that? Zero. He truly is amazing and it's amazing how he had the entire crowd mesmerized. I know it's stating the obvious but no one can even come close to him and what he does. The other thing is that he showed the world what true rhythm and blues and soul is. I only watched the bits before Jagger's performance to make sure I didn't miss it and the only thing worth watching was Dylan. That Aretha Franklin tribute was unbearable.

I liked the Aretha Franklin tribute, Cristina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson especially.

Poor Bob Dylan, he sounded like he needed a glass of water and some cough drops.  But, he did alright.  He is a living legend after all.

Mick's performance was by far the best of the night, without a doubt, he did it with just his singing & moves, didn't need all the other theatrical props most of the rest used, he's in fine form for sure for a tour, I just hope he doesn't get it in his head to do a solo tour.
I don't know how long this is going to stay on Youtube.

I didnt say I think it was needed. If I'd the choice, I'd have preferred 'Cry To Me'. Just a personal preference because he does soul ballads pretty well. 'Everybody Needs Somebody' was the obvious and right choice for the occasion.

And you're right about it being regrettable that the Stones couldnt have bothered their arses to get together for a few hours to rehearse this. Pretty much what I said at the start of the thread. Actually I didn't have you in mind when I wrote that, I'm all for "Cry To Me" - fantastic song and I love  Stones version.  I'd have loved to hear Mick do  Down In The Valley or Home In your Heart as well. I was thinking of a bunch of folks on a iorr.org thread that kept going on about him needing to a song with "a greater degree of difficulty" to prove he can still sing.

Mick looked great and stole the show (christ Topogeejo could have done that though)....a tad long with the repetitive words but he showed again his ability to command an audience.

What I think people are missing is how tight the band supporting him were. I had not really paid attention to Rafael Saddiq before but I will from now on. He played some nice stuff.

Agree. Caught Saadiq a while back on PBS' 'Live From The Artists Den'.

Loved the classic old school Motown vibe, and it led me to pick up a copy of 'The Way I See It'.
Great stuff, imo.

Looking forward to his forthcoming album, 'Stone Rollin''.
He's posted a coupla videos from it, including the super-infectious 'Radio'.

Of course I LOVED seeing MICK perform again, truly fabulous! Afvckingmazing! The only thing that bothered me is that it looked like MICK pushed Raphael S not once but twice. The second time Raphael appears to run away, its fvking funny! Was MICK hogging the spotlight or was MICK just overly enthusiastic?

Kinda reminds me of the way Mick used to push Ronnie & Bill around on stage.  taylor made smile

Yeah Bitch. I just think Mick was pumped to be on stage and clowning around. Nothing against Saadiq who played his part well.
