The SACD'shttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Audio_CD are DSD masteredhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Stream_Digital, and the Redbook (other reg. CD layer) are also DSD... if you want the SACD version, be careful and make sure you buy the digipaks, they are the only ones that are hybrids, they are also out of print. do not trust Amzon, they are shipping DSD Redbooks, that are not the SACD's.

Do the reading, it will make sense after a few readings...

also, do not get rid of your old ABKCO's, there's a few unique mixes of songs to those releases... like the Street Fighting Man on The singles collection is the orginal seven inch single mono mix, not released anywhere else on CD, not the same mix released on the 2002 SACD/DSD... a few other songs too...

and the new stuff has unique stuff too...

Singles collection has 6 songs not available elsewhere:

1. I Want to Be Loved (1963)
2. I Wanna be Your Man (1964)
3. Stoned (1963 b-side IWBYM)
4. Sad Day (US b-side to 19th Nervous Breakdown 1966)
5. Who's Driving Your Plane? (US/UK b-side Have You Seen your Mother 1966)
6. Memo From Turner (1970)

Plus, 18 mono mixes that appear only on this collection:

1. 2000 Light Years From Home
2. Child of the Moon
3. Dandelion
4. In Another Land
5. It's All Over Now
6. Jumpin' Jack Flash
7. Lady Jane
8. Let's Spend the Night Together
9. No Expectations
10. Paint it Black
11. Ruby Tuesday
12. She's A Rainbow
13. Street Fighting Man
14. Stupid Girl
15.The Lantern
16. We Love You
17. What a Shame
18. You Can't Always Get What You Want

Hot Rocks has 5 songs/mixes that cannot be found on the regular albums:

1. 19th Nervous Breakdown - Mono (1966)
2. Honky Tonk Women - Stereo (1969)
3. Jumpin' Jack Flash - Stereo (1968)
4. Time is on My Side - Version Two, Guitar (1964)
5. Satisfaction - Stereo (1965)

All five of these songs turn up on Big Hits/Though The Past Darkly as well, so one can choose between those releases for these 5 tracks.

More Hot Rocks has 9 unique tracks/mixes that don't appear elsewhere in the 2002 remasters.

1. Bye, Bye Johnny - Mono (1964)
2. Child of the Moon - Stereo (B-Side to "Jumpin' Jack Flash" in 1968)
3. Everybody Needs Somebody to Love - Mono Version 2 (UK album The Rolling Stones No. 2 in 1965)
4. Fortune Teller - Mono (1964)
5. I've Been Loving You Too Long - Stereo (Recorded in 1965)
6. Money - Mono (1964)
7. Poison Ivy - Mono Version 1 (1964)
8. Poison Ivy - Mono Version 2 (1964 on the UK EP The Rolling Stones)
9. We Love You - Stereo (1967, with a B-side of "Dandelion)

Flowers has two unique songs not available elsewhere in the 2002 remasters.

1. My Girl - Stereo (Previously unreleased. Recorded in 1965)
2. Ride on Baby - Stereo (Previously unreleased. Recorded in 1965)

Metamorphosis:
 1. "Out of Time" – 3:22
         * The demo - with Mick Jagger on lead vocal - for Chris Farlowe's hit single version, recorded 27-30 April 1966
   2. "Don't Lie to Me" (Chuck Berry) – 2:00
         * Recorded on 12 May 1964
         * Incorrectly credited to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on the album
         * Line Up: Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Brian Jones (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass), Ian Stewart (piano)
   3. "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind" – 2:25
         * Recorded on 13 February 1964
         * The first version of this song to be released (in early 1965) was by the American duo Dick and Dee Dee, followed closely by the Vashti Bunyan recording.
   4. "Each and Everyday of the Year" – 2:48
         * Recorded in early September 1964
         * Bobby Jameson's version of this song features the same backing track as this recording. It was also covered by a group that went by the name of "Thee," both in 1965
   5. "Heart of Stone" – 3:47
         * Recorded 21 - 23 July 1964 with Jimmy Page on guitar and Clem Cattini on drums
   6. "I'd Much Rather Be With the Boys" – 2:11 (Andrew Loog Oldham/Richards)
         * Recorded in February 1965
         * Originally released by The Toggery 5 in 1965.
   7. "(Walkin' Thru The) Sleepy City" – 2:51
         * Recorded in early September 1964
         * Originally released by The Mighty Avengers in 1965
   8. "We're Wastin' Time" – 2:42
         * Recorded in early September 1964
         * Originally released by Jimmy Tarbuck in 1965
   9. "Try a Little Harder" – 2:17
         * Recorded on 13 February 1964
  10. "I Don't Know Why" (Stevie Wonder/Paul Riser/Don Hunter/Lula Hardaway) – 3:01
         * Recorded on 3 July 1969, the same night that Brian Jones died. The music after the stop was spliced in at a later stage. The second slide guitar solo by Mick Taylor is a copy of the first solo
         * Incorrectly credited to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor on the first pressing of the album. The credits were corrected with the second pressing and on the 2002 SACD version
  11. "If You Let Me" – 3:17
         * An Aftermath outtake, recorded 3 - 6 March 1966
         * Line Up: Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Brian Jones (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass), Ian Stewart (piano)

         * Line Up: Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitars), Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass), Nicky Hopkins (piano), Jimmy Miller (percussion)
  15. "Memo From Turner" – 2:45
         * Recorded on 17 November 1968
         * Line Up: Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass), Al Kooper (guitar)
  16. "I'm Going Down" – 2:52
         * Recorded 14 - 15 July 1970 as a Sticky Fingers outtake
         * Credited to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor on the first pressing of the album. The credits were changed to 'Jagger/Richards' with the second pressing and on the 2002 SACD version Although often thought of as a "Keith Richard" riff, The guitar part was actually written by Mick Taylor. Richards does not perform on the song.
         * Line Up: Mick Jagger (vocals), Mick Taylor (guitars), Stephen Stills (guitars) Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Plummer (bass), Bobby Keys (sax), Rocky Dijon (percussion)

oh man... you know, I got so sucked into remastered must mean better hype... some are, don't get me wrong... but there's so many great old CD masterings much better than anything reissued since... ABKCO stuff from 2002 is pretty amazing, on a good system, and beyond words on SACD hooked up right on a good system.

I agree. The SACD releases sound brilliant if you have a good system to listen on. I'm running a hot system and the SACD are what I used to show it off.
