I Love Austin And The Stones

This a really cool event. I've been very lucky, as a non-musician to make friends with some really cool musicians in Austin. Going to the rehearsal party tonite, should be a blast. some really cool folks playing this. A gentelman named Stephen Bruton, just passed, he worked with alot of people like Willie Nelson ect... alot of these folks are his friends, so this should be really special too, for him. I heard Ian Mc. is around, not sure if he is playing or not....

You ever go and see James McMurtry ? - he has a midweek residency somewhere in Austin I think.  He played here for the first time 3 months ago, with Mac on keyboards and Jon Dee Graham opening. Great stuff. Wouldnt mind seeing that lot on a regular basis.

The only one I've seen on the list is Ian Moore, 5 times here in H-Town.

I need to get back to Austin soon. Antone's is always on my list as well as the Continental Club

Mac plays around Austin fairly regular.

Maybe we can catch up sometime down the line.

Having lived in the Dallas, I can really relate to that McMurtry song, Choctaw Bingo:

....still makes whiskey because he still knows how....   And I want to get between my two second cousins too!

A buddy of mine is a huge Jon Dee Graham fan and I've had the pleasure of seeing Jon at least twice.  I saw McMurtry once here in St. louis.

Austin would seem to be much cooler than Nashville.
