1960's It Girl-turned-arthouse singer, Marianne Faithfull, exudes charm in a performance in front of an intimate audience of friends and fans at LSO St Luke's in east London.
A great band accompany her on an eclectic mix of songs from her critically-acclaimed covers album Easy Come Easy Go, including The Decemberists' The Crane Wife 3, Morrissey's Dear God, Please Help Me, Dolly Parton's Down From Dover and Randy Newman's chilling In Germany Before the War.
There are also dips into the past, with her first ever live performance of the original 1960s arrangement of As Tears Go By, plus the early Jagger-Richards song Sister Morphine.

They also contain short different 60's/70's(?) clips , live is possibly late 70's, extended is Val Doonican show from late 60s I think. Marianne is amazing live. really?

She converted my father, who I dragged along the first time I saw her and was nagging the whole time until we got there - he left more mesmerized than I was Blank Frigging Stare

And he's NOT an easy person to convince, trust me.

And she's got a life with stories that can fill ten books and a career full of wonderful records. Mind you, it's the fact that she's a woman, otherwise she'd have earned MUCH more respect.

Faithful is down right awful sounding. I cant imagine anyone would go to see the old hag perform unless they were a total Stones sycophant that is so beyond fanatical that they'll go to anything thats even on the fringe of being related to the Stones in any way. Like Mick Jagger's girlfriend of 40 years ago or Mick's brother or a jazz show by one of the Stones horn players.

Basically what I'm saying is if Chuck Leavell charged $40 to see him juggle bowling pins, these same folks would be the ones going.

I knew you were taking it there. Contrary to what you might think, I happen to have no interest in Chris Jagger's music - and certainly Chuckie never even crossed my mind as a possibility Blank Frigging Stare

In my opinion, Marianne Faithfull has immense worth as a musician and performer. Her connection with the Stones, if anything, mainly helped in diminishing that, because just like you're doing now, people think she's only existing because she used to sleep with Mick. Let me remind you there have been legions of women who did just the same, but I don't see many of them doing what Marianne does.

I love going to her gigs and buying her records just for her. Forget the Stones connection. Not to mention that from the 90's onwards, she's done WAY better records than some certain gentlemen have. Roll Eyes

The woman has had to spend her entire life trying to prove she's more than the "Mars bar girl" but I guess some people just don't get it. Pulling a Zappa, I'd say "you either get it or you don't".

'Broken English' for example is a terrific record, by anyone's standards. In the 30 years since it came out, I can't think of too many Stones albums that were better. Maybe Tattoo You and Bridges, and thats about it. I like her stuff (some of it anyway) on it's own merits.

I saw her locally in a special event with an orchestra about 2-3 years ago and thought she was pretty good.
