Whoo, this is fun looking at the pics of everyone and the concert pics. I really hope there will be another tour in 2009! London is a fabulous city, I will go back again, for sure. What are the chances of the Stones returning to the O2 Dome and us meeting at The Pilot Inn again? I say it's very possble, but the new Emirates Stadium is larger, so I that could be the venue of choice next time round.
great pics - is that one of the cake one of mine? LOL
The Emirates is larger, but Wembley Stadium is larger again. I'd imagine they'd like to play at the new stadium before they wrap up. Add Twickenham, and London has three stadiums which hold 60,000, 82,000 and 90,000 for sports events (plus the 'temporary' Olympic stadium which will be ready - we hope - for 2012)
However, about 45,000 tickets were sold for the 3 nights at the 02 (many of them being repeat customers) and they werent hard to get even though it eventually sold out. Even with the all-seated ruse they insist on enforcing on their fans here, they'll find it hard to sell 15-20,000 more tickets than that figure for a stadium show at those venues unless they restructure the prices to make a high % of them affordable (they had some £40 tickets for twickenham in 2006, but nosebleeds at the 02 were £70, and a higher % of tickets for each succeeding visit to the UK are going for £150).
They're not going to be able to sustain that for much longer as there's a credit crunch and they're touring with such regularity now that pretty much everyone who has wanted to see them has by now had ample opportunities to do so.
the Pilot would be the obvious location for a meet up should the Stones play the 02 in 2010, I would have thought. I think the general consensus was that people seemed to be happy enough with it.
