A punk rocker is just some kid whose grandfather happened to be a beatnik.

I can remember my Dad driving me down Peachtree St. in Atlanta in the late sixties and saying "roll the windows up, we're in the hippie part of town!"

no hippies in my family, but alot of democrats... we all have a certain amount of shame. no beatniks either, so that ruins the beatnik to punk rocker lineage. My kids may very well grow up to be punk rockers. They're being introduced and raised this way. just like many kids, they may very well rebel. I'm afraid of the christian conservative bomb drop, I may not handle it well.......

Yes, both of my parents were hippies.

That's why I had to kill them.

I do miss the spicy incense though.

Feast your eyes doubting PDog.

...

This is mom and dad a few years ago.
Those damn tie-dye outfits are what drove me to violence.

Violence is a strong word.
I didn't hurt them.
I just used some fancy FBI stationary to make up a "government report" saying Jerry Garcia really was a spy for Nixon.
Scared them both to death!

Must have been WQXI.
My sister won a radio contest they had. The prize was a letter from George Harrison.
She got the letter, a letter from George to the station manager concerning some promotion or business matter.
That was the "letter from George Harrison" they gave away!

Wow, lots of youngsters on this site.... Wink

My parents were of the WWII, Glenn Miller generation. They were both in show biz, though, so they were {and are} ultimately cool.  Wink Smiley

I was not a hippie. But I think I might have qualified as a flower child.  Wink

I was seven years old in '68, and yeah, I remember having a sissy bar on my five-speed.
I lived off Johnson Ferry Rd, lots of hills to ride that bike on.
I doubt my sister still has that letter. She's moved around a lot and never been very organized.
Probably couldn't find it if she still has it.
I'll ask her next weekend since I'll be visiting family in Atlanta.

hippies and yuppies are nothing comapred to the new plague. Hipsters are the actual cause of the current sub-prime mortage problem that has severly damaged the American economy. They also cause climate change and severe vomit taste in your mouth.

I thought we were blaming the illegal immigrants for that.
