How the hell did the Dolphins make the playoffs?
Pats did not go 12-4.
Pats gave a great effort, even though they lost their franchise player in the first game. Phins looked like 1-15 team of last year. Pats will be back next year. Like the Steelers, they make the right decisions almost all of the time.
I watched Super Bowl X on youtube (its in 19 parts of 10 minutes each). I'm insane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i48K4zrGbwMA lot of things struck me - some worth mentioning.
1. I was surprised that the level of play is pretty much the same as today. That Steeler defense would be the best in the league today. Those guys were everywhere. Both teams were good, and would easily compete today.
2. The game was nowhere near as close as I remembered it, or the score seemed to indicate. The Steelers dominated the entire game, stuffed Dallas, big plays all day, and had all the momentum.
3. In contrast, its depressing how much the game today is about grandstanding and celebrating. Both the Steelers and Cowboys would make a strong play and then get up and hustle back to the huddle. No idiotic dancing around just because you made a tackle or caught a pass.
4. Bradshaw - his last TD to Swann was 65 yards, in the air, perfect spiral, and right on the money. Nobody - not Marino, Elway, Manning, etc. - could huck like that.
5. One interesting bit of Hollywood Henderson talking to himself on the bench, who we now know was high as all fish.
