Okay dokey then, so, what is everyones favourite by the Fab Four?

I must admit, as much as I like Abbey Road, White album etc, I'm more of a Beatle Mania era man myself.

"Shabby Road"

Bought it on holiday in the Isle of Man when I was 11. I think it was one of the first two or three albums I ever bought with my own money. 34 years and a couple of thousand albums later its still one of my favouriye two or three albums of all time.

Yeah, you never forget that "bought with my own money" album. A week after my 10th b'day I bought Abbey Road, which I had been lusting for for some weeks previous.  In the same purchase, 45s of "Hot Fun in the Summertime" by Sly Stone, and "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis.  Grand total: $4.28 US (I still remember getting the change back from a Fiver).

I'm really, really fond of the early stuff - Please Please Me, Beatles For Sale, and With The Beatles. But as far as I'm concerned, Abbey Road was The Beatles at the top of their game.

I'm with you there. But Revolver is my all time fave. I loved the mid 60's sound--everything from '64-'66. As to the later albums, I prefer the White Album. A lot of individual projects, really, but some amazing material on this one!

Wow,no love for the White Album? Not only my favorite Beatles album, but one of my favorite ever. Abbey Road a very close second. I much prefer the later Beatles. The White Album was just so different from their other stuff. Plus being a double album helps as well. From Paul's lovely Mother Nature's Son to John's angst on Yer Blues and everything else in between. Great record.

I wouldnt go as far to say that, but while it has moments which are on a par with anything else they (or any band) ever made, its too long and suffers from a serious amount of filler.

George Martin has long maintained that it should have been a single album. I dont think he's wrong. Maybe in the CD age, it would have worked better as a 75-80 minute single CD, but theres about 20-30 minutes worth of music on it which would have been jettisoned from any other Beatles album.

And that doesnt include Revolution 9, which I personally think is brilliant.

Certainly in their top 3 or 4 for me - but no way is it as great as Abbey Road or Revolver.

I've never heard a Beatles album I didn't like. Same with the Stones. The White Album is huge, diverse, and has moments of real brilliance. I love it.

I always have such a hard time picking one "favorite" when it comes to music.

Saw that too.  Paul messed up his own lines from the song, but delivered John's gorgeously.

Revolver for me. Devoid of filler (although "Yellow Submarine" is kinda trite). It's one of the top 5 albums in my book. Amazing stuff and it's less poppy than Rubber Soul gets and less pretentious than Sgt. Pepper gets. Abbey Road would be my second fave perhaps. Of their early work, Hard Day's Night is immaculate. Let me do my usual grading to rank their 11 studio LPs for y'all:

1. Revolver: A+
2. Abbey Road: A+
3. Rubber Soul: A+
4. A Hard Day's Night: A+
5. The White Album: A
6. With the Beatles: A
7. Sgt. Pepper: A
8. Beatles for Sale: A
9. Please Please Me: A-
10. Let it Be: A-
11. Help!: A-

The rest is well documented by Past Masters Volume 1 (A) and 2 (A+). Then after that, it's all scraping the barrel for material. They put out more in 7 years than most do in 27.

I'm with GTRM here.  I did like portions of Soul, as well thought
you could "wake & bake" quite well to Sgt. Peppers.
I'm told there are photos which exist of myself in my first band.
I had some "Moe Howard" type hair going at the time, the same
type of hair those four from Liverpool wore.  I'll have to dig those
out, can you scan Polaroids from the 60's?

Well to be truthful. I haven't listened to much "Beatles" since I played the White Album over and over and over again many many years ago........

Abby or "Shabby" Road IS probably the  preferred of the 2 however...
