10 things I truly love, out of 10 Million
1. Charlie Watts' drums on YGAGYWY live, ca. 1972-1973
2. Their Chuck Berry covers
3. If You Can't Rock Me/Get Off of My Cloud
4. The second half of side two of Dirty Work
5. Dance Part 2
6. Garden State 1978
7. Every second of the UK Between the Buttons
8. "Love is a bed full of blues"
9. Mick monologue: Too Much Blood
10. Out of Control, live Europe, 1998
This a good way of doing this..I'll happily take the ball and run with this one
1. Bill's bass during the middle eight of 'Miss You'
2. The fact that 'Little Red Rooster' is the only bonafide record in history to top the singles charts
3. Mick whipping the crowd into a frenzy in the middle of 'Midnight Rambler' from 'Brussels Affair'
4. Keith's opening notes of 'Gimme Shelter' which still make the hair on various parts of my anatomy stand up every time (my description of it as 'flickering menace portending doom' or something like that won me a signed copy of Ronnie's autobiography). A friend or mine years ago remarked "that's a song you actually wouldnt mind getting your head kicked in to".....
5. Mick's vocal in the second half of 'Let It Loose'
6. Charlie's little snare solo just before the final chorus of 'When The Whip Comes Down'.
7. The way Mick sings the word 'Lightning!" on 'If I Was A Dancer'
8. Keith's 1977 Toronto tapes. Staring down the barrel of oblivion yet the most emotive singing of his life.
9. Mick Taylor's solo and those strings on 'Winter'
10. Their tour announcements. Whether it's Juilliard, Brooklyn Bridge or the Blimp, no one makes a statement or grand entrance quite like them. It's must-see TV every 3 years or so.
