Keith says what he feels and sometimes I'm sure is misquoted. If he can slag Zep then Bowie is certainly fair game.Bowie is notoriuosly cheap and no doubt resents the vast fortune the Stones have made touring behind their legacy.
Actually Bowie is probably wealthier than Mick or Keith.
Quickly researched that in 1994 Mick was listed by Forbes with 90 million pounds...Keith at 70 million and Bowie at 20 million. I can only imagine how much the margin has widened since then. Thus my comment.
He made a load of money selling off the rights to his catalog in the late '90's and then the 2003-2004 tour grossed around a hundred million with a small production and without having to split the take. There have been no divorces or paternity suits the last few decades.
All the lists are estimates but the estimates coming out in the late '90's - early '00 put him way up in the upper echelons alongside McCartney and Elton John.
He ain't hurting for money and doesn't have any reason to be jealous. And his sporadic touring is personal choice, not lack of booking opportunities.
He founded Ultrastar which admisters fan clubs and fan club websites and which was used by the Stones in 2002/2003 so he is even making money off them. It makes Keith's comments all the more ridiculous considering their mutually beneficial relationships though it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even have the first clue they were there.
