This hits hard and January can bite me.
I loved Marianne with all my heart. So talented, so fiery. I hated the misogynistic, stupid way the press treated her, like an extension of Mick, this horrendous portrayal of her as a "muse" or the "girl in rugs", instead of an artist, a person in her own right. She was nothing short of amazing and I feel she never got the recognition she deserved. Went to hell and back, made some amazing music, she was fire. Fire.
I saw her live twice. I was entranced. The second time round I also managed to go to this press conference she had before the gig too. Was too hypnotized to dare ask her anything.
But I did ask her something on an online Q&A she did several years ago. I didn't wanna ask about music, instead I asked how one finds closure. I was going through some shitty situation at the time and could use some words of wisdom. She replied: "You don't. You just have to be ruthless and kind at the same time". It stuck with me. I always go back to it.
I hope she's hanging with Anita and they're sharing a laugh about their wild, amazing lives.
