well, that certainly got my attention...

1) I havent really warmed very much to the Hackney album, but I have
adjusted a bit. I said to myself, "hey, if it had been an EP with just Angry,
Wide World, and Sweet Sounds on it, how would I have felt?"

Truthfully, I would have been over the moon. So now i just pretend it
was an EP, and the other tracks are just outtakes

2) My view now is that Mick went out of his way to make Hackney
easily digestible for the swirling american masses, which was of course
the smart move, whereas I like his more spicy and pungent and
abrasive stuff.

3) luckily my six months or so of estrangement from the Stones
has done me a world of good, in terms of other interests, none of which '
are musical in any serious way, because there are no other music artists
in the same league as the Stones.  So I've had just brief flings with other
tracks, including Keith's Man and Post Malone's Chemical
(which i'm pretty sure un-credited Mick co-wrote)

4) From what i've heard on youtube, the Stones are playing great on this
amazingly successful (considering there's been almost no hype) tour.
i've always loved the Stones hype and other bullshit, so that's another
adjustment i've had to make, I miss it

5) on the other hand, I particularly like how free Steve and Darryl have
been to do their thing this tour. The more of them two the better...

sorry, i just tried it again, and "dreamy skies" remains for me one of the
most monotonous Stones songs ever...

mick did this exact same theme so much better in 2002, with a track
having interesting shifting textures and dynamics...

(it was literally my theme song back then as i moved from NYC to
rural australia)

Mick has also said in an interview that the extra tracks they have
from Hackney have more new and different sounds, which is
what i need and why i'm hoping desperately for it this christmas

spring 2023 after BV assured everybody that the album and tour
were imminent (even setting up a special tour page), on these pages
I countered that the album would not be out til the end of the year and
the tour not til 2024

everybody uses insider info, but since i have no access to that, i use
reasoned analysis.

my analysis is that the Stones will have a new album in our hands by
the end of this year. Although as we know it was mostly recorded at
the same time as Hackney, it will sound very different. It will
be as black as Hackney is white, and will divide Stones fans
the way a Stones album is supposed to...

For this reason and because of various world crises, the Stones will
take 2025 off

so the first shoe has now dropped

while we're waiting for the second shoe, please keep in mind that they
seem certain to be compensating us for their (unavoidable) lack of shows
in 2025 with a radically new album before christmas this year, plus some
nice promotional activities...

Mick already working on lyrics/vocals for October single, November album

I agree that the idea of them getting the album out by christmas is
implausible IF the situation is as mpj200 stated, that is, quite
a bit of work remaining.  But I think both 1) the work on most of the
tracks was completed long before now including lyrics and vocals,
and 2) yes, despite the lack of leaks/rumours, except for the week
or so off for mick's birthday, they have indeed been recording two
or more brand new tracks, fulfilling keith's forever-wish to get the
band into the studio while they're still road-sharp

1) paraphrasing a similar quote from Linda Ronstadt, about her time hanging
out with Mick: He's as good as they say, and as bad. Its like he's always
offering you a beautiful red apple, and even though you know its slightly
poisoned, you take it anyway 2) So i've been thinking a bit more about
the beautiful red apple Mick gave us a few years back, the Fully Finished
Outtakes, and now I know why 3) he was testing the market, to see if
fans these days preferred the half i went crazy over, the brilliant but very
different stuff they kept in the can in the 80s 90s because it wasn't commercial
enough, or the other half, the familiar but second-rate songs 4) and judging
by what i read on the various fan forums, the clear winner was the second-
rate classic-sounding tracks 5) So they gave the people what they wanted,
the shiny waxed apple of Hackney Diamonds. Don't mind the maggots.

the kind of stuff we'll get from them next time around.

In Darryl Jones' new interview, he says...

Unfortunately that's about as clear as mud as far as what if anything the
Stones have planned for 2025. All we've learned is that Darryl is getting
his own band together for springtime, which i guess is less than encouraging
for the preponderance of fans who expected the Stones to be active in that
timeframe
