OK, then that would be the version re-edited for repeat broadcast.  The live event was, well, live-shot.  The editing choices made on the fly were better than the second-guess edits in the re-edit.  So we can only hope that the third-guess version on the blu-ray is a smarter edit, without the dissolves to stills.  Those stills were thrown in to cover what the makers felt were "boring" inter-song stage business.

The HBO special was my first ever Stones show, so I'm happy to see this one get a rerelease even if I've had the full soundboard for years. Hopefully they restore the three missing tracks and beef up the sound a bit. It was an excellent show where the band was on point.

So, just when we're about to publish the fully revamped setlists page, not only do the Stones issue El Mocambo but they put this out as well!!

For the record, this show was previously released as part of 'Four Flicks' in November 2003, which was available on DVD (but NOT Blu-ray) and has since been deleted. Thats the excuse for re-issuing it, I suppose. It included 17 of the 21 songs played on 18th January, so assuming they release the full show this time, the extra songs are Start Me Up, Tumbling Dice, Gimme Shelter and Sympathy For The Devil.

10 of the 21 songs were released on the 'Live Licks' CD (Nov 2004) plus 'If You Cant Rock Me' ('Live Licks' (Japan bonus track) and 'Thru & Thru' ('Rarities')

'Tumbling Dice' and 'Sympathy' are the only songs from this show that have so far not been released on DVD or CD.

As I recall, the pre show tailgate at Giants was so good that Voodoo was tracked down by Nanky after the gig in the middle of the pitch singing into his shoe, which he had somehow managed to split during the course of the evening.

These sort of things dont happen on Shidoobee.

That was the show that Jax gave me a ticket to sit with Voodoo and gave me ONE job to do - keep an eye on him.  He disappeared after the first song to get some beers and he never came back.  While leaving the show and wondering how I could possibly find him among thousands of people exiting the arena, and how the hell I was going to tell everyone that I lost him, there he was in the stairwell singing Satisfaction into the sole of his shoe.  When Jax asked how did he behave, I just said "no problem at all" and grabbed a beer before the ride back to NYC.  I eventually told her a few years later at another show.

LOL no... the one I don't remember was the MSG show, I was dead-drunk and 8-miles high, really out of my head, fortunately a guardian angel came to my rescue, Marisa, who took me to her apartment and I was singing "days between" of the Grateful Dead in a mixture of English and Aramaic (which I don’t speak a single word) LOL

Fuck me. You must have been in some shape if you were worse at the Garden than you were at Giants. 

I do now vaguely remember Marisa returning to the apartment after we'd come back from our post-show drinks having somehow located you somewhere around 7th Avenue (I think we were staying on W28th)
