One of the first hard Drum/lick/Songs I learned!😎 people/drummer's made fun of it after awhile, the simple groove, the simple layout pattern, it was a lick alot of drummers copied(even Ringo on his one drum Solo on Abbey Road) but the solo was the brunt of many drummer's nasty critiques! IMO uncalled for, but it was an easy target! I hope Mr. Bushy reap the benefits of it's popularity!

The Chieftains were the opening act on the bill at my first Stones show at Slane in 1982.

Bizarrely, I went to a Chieftains show in Belfast in August 1991 filmed for a St Patricks Day US Tv special aired the following year where it was announced in advance that their special guests would be Roger Daltrey and.... Charlie Watts. Daltrey showed up ok (and sang 'Behind Blue Eyes' and (I think) 'Carrickfergus' ) but there was no sign or mention of Charlie on the night. I was furious! Never heard any explanation for the non appearance to this day.

Saw them a few times in the 80's and 90's. Usually opening for other acts like Van Morrison. Not really my type of music but Paddy always seemed a very likeable character and was a great ambassador for Irish music.

Awwww, that is sad. I love JG/JGB...even more than the Dead.
He plays on all the great Garcia studio albums in my rotation.
I don't believe I ever saw him play live (first time seeing JG was at school in 82/83)...
but I have enjoyed his contributions many times over the years...and I am at this very moment!

(I assume drummers all have a special area heaven/hell made for them, what with the noise and all)

Never into the MBs...but I did see them one time.
The opening was one of those epic early 80's openings..lights...sounds...no one on stage...then as they walked on stage, and started to play more sounds... the entire show blew a fuse...after a 20 min wait...we got to witness the entire opening again...talk about a buzz kill...
I knew a couple of the new songs, and one or two of the "classics".

Havent thought about that show since.

I recently discovered one song I do like, but cant recall the name. I heard it on LSUG a few months ago and was surprised it was the Moody blues.
Need to research.
