Its stupid to think there has to be a choice, one or the other. Both bands have made serious musical contributions and should be given credit for opening up the doors for the music world.

Each topic worse than the one that came before it. Just when you think stupid crap had reached its apex, this guy shows up and breaks through the previous record holder. It's kind of amazing.

Oh no! not you again Ouch!

" A co-founder of the super group the Eagles, Don Henley has also established a long solo career, then he re-established the Eagles, and now he has a new solo album. I'm tired just writing that down. But Henley's boyish manner and southern charm, at 68, shows little sign of letting up as he easily delighted the near sell out crowd at the LA Forum last Friday night.

He's as easy on stage as if he were sitting across a table from you having a cup of coffee and telling a funny story he heard from back home. Henley is touring with his first solo album in 15 years, Cass County, named for the northeastern Texas county in which he was raised. He called it a tribute to where he came from. "I love Texas, he said. "Just not the politics. Or June or July."

"The album came out last week at number 1," he said politely, and after the cheers died down he continued "Ladies and gentlemen, at this stage of the game you don't know what a miracle that is. Thank you ...... and a special Thank you to my biggest fan Sir Moonie . "  Cass County is Henley's first career solo album number 1, appearing on both the national and country Billboard charts.   "

Just keep at it.  Perseverance.  Tenacity.  Poise and some moxie.  Build in a reward system for yourself, and if you meet your goal, don't hesitate to use it.

" Don Henley shows off “Cass County” at Bellco Theatre  "

" The solo hits flowed out of the former and sometimes current Eagles front man, as Henley delved into songs rooted in reflections on the mistakes he’s made.

His latest tour is fueled by new album “Cass County,” which debuted at No. 1 for Billboards Top Country Albums chart just last week. “The damn thing went to number one,” said the 68-year-old Henley. “It won’t be there long, but it’s a good place to start.”

The show started with the Eagles in the air, but they fast became the elephant in the room. Henley and his band sang the Steve Young classic, “Seven Bridges Road,” which was to be the only nod to the blockbuster group. When Henley announced the next grouping of songs would all had a spooky tie-in to the Halloween season, he sneered when an audience member by the name of ' Sir Moonie  ' cried for “Witchy Woman.” Instead, the cluster included a cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell On You,” and his own “New York Minute.”

Henley filled his two hour-plus set with more songs off “The End of the Innocence,” with “The Heart of the Matter,” “The Last Worthless Evening” and its Bruce Hornsby-co-written titular song.

The night was a good mix of old, and of course, new. “Cass County” is a collection of more country than rock music, featuring the likes of Merle Haggard, Trisha Yearwood and Dolly Parton. “Bramble Rose” was the most impressive song Henley performed off the new record. While the studio version features Mick Jagger and Miranda Lambert, back-up singer Lily Elise filled in nicely. “Welcome to the Mile High City.” Henley said as Elise joined him. “I’m feeling every inch of it.”

Henley rounded out his set with hits “Boys of Summer,” “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” and “Dirty Laundry.” Commenting on the current state of media, Henley remarked the song “Dirty Laundry” has “aged well.”

" Down by the seaside
See the boats go sailing
Can the people hear
What the little fish are saying

[Chorus]
Oh, oh, the people turned away
Oh, the people turned away

[Verse]
Down in the city streets, see all the folk go racing, racing
No time left, to pass the time of day

[Bridge]
The people turned away
The people turned away
So far away, so far away

[Bridge]
See how they run, see how they run, see how they run, see how they run
Do you still do the twist
Do you find you remember things that well
I wanna tell you
Some go twisting every day
Though sometimes it's awful hard to tell

[Hook]
Out in the country, hear the people singing
Singing about their progress, knowing where they're going

[Bridge]

[Chorus]
Oh, oh, the people turned away
Oh, the people turned away

]
Sing loud for the sunshine, pray hard for the rain
And show your love for Lady Nature. And she will come back again
The people turned away  ... "

All I know is that "For No One" is the best song that either of them ever recorded by a long shot.

That aside, I listen to the Stones constantly...Beatles only once every so often.

"  ... Then as it was, then again it will be
An' though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would

Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul

Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me
Never thought I'd see your face the way it used to be
Oh darlin', oh darlin'

I'm never gonna leave you. I never gonna leave
Holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone

Eagles too, my friend.  They get away with it every day.  Even here on RO.

MY band, the Rolling Stones, bulldozes around the world on diesel, hitting jumping Jack Flash, Midnight Rambler, got to roll me.  The Eagles, on the other mitten, fellatiate each other in men's baffrooms. These are not trivial differences.  They go right to the heart on soul of the issue.

The Eagles are one of the worst bands of all time. I think back to 2013...Philly night #2. Some woman was crowing about how great the Eagles. Meanwhile the Stones are due to hit the stage.
