Seems like a strange group of cities to me. As in the header, where is NY? I heard Forest Hills. Last tour we were guessing cities and most ended up correct but a few weren't. I think that will happen again this time too.
the header only related to a story that the Stones were meeting in New York
They almost exclusively stuck to 'A' markets in 2013. Some of which got more than one shows. Reason for that being the shows were so expensive there were very few markets where there was enough interest to pay that sort of money.
This time they're more likely to try out a few more 'B' markets as they may have milked dry some of the larger ones. Playing minor markets wouldnt have been feasible had they kept the same formula as 2013. (similarly, they played stadium sized venues in Europe in 2014 because when they investigated the possibility of an arena tour there in late 2013 they soon found out that promoters in most countries wouldnt take the risk)
Playing some of the shows in stadiums allows them to keep the more ridiculous prices for the best tickets, but allows more manoevre for a more affordable range of tickets. An option which is much more attractive for a potential promoter than having to charge an average ticket price of about $300- 400 to break even as was the case two years ago.
They havent played the New York area since Dec 2012 have they? Forest Hills seems an odd choice if thats where theyre going as it only holds about 14-15,000. They'll probably promote that by trying to convince you its akin to a club show by Stones standards. Dont expect too many seats to be available in the cheapest price range for that one!
