Fraid so.
Not sure where they're going to go with the deluxe reissues after this. The half arsed way theyve dealt with the bonus studio material on this release suggests they're losing interest.
Mick did say when they did Exile that it was a lot of work, and that how much they put into future releases was dependent on how they sold. Exile sold very well, Some Girls less so and this will probably sell even less unless they manage to take advantage of the tour and market it well.
I cant see there being much mileage in expanded releases of specific albums after this. Most of the albums that do have a lot of potential bonus material aren't widely regarded as 'classic' Stones albums (Emotional Rescue, Dirty Work, Voodoo Lounge, Goats Head Soup, etc) and the one remaining mega-selling album that they havent touched yet (Tattoo You) was basically a collection of touched up leftovers to begin with.
Maybe the way forward - especially for a band whose studio material tends to overlap albums with songs being carried over to future sessions - is to make these releases more 'era specific' than 'album specific'. Technically, they've already done this with the Exile and Some Girls - but instead in the future they could just be a bit more honest about the sources of the material.
I'm sure they could cobble together a good 2-CD set of alternates and outtakes from the 1968-69 era that saw them release Beggars, Let It Bleed and a couple of killer singles. Or a couple of discs worth of material from the Paris era of the late 70s and early 80s' (the just circulated third 'Foxes In The Boxes' disc shows what great stuff there is that really is worthy of a wider release)
