Holy shit!

Another 10 years snuck by.

Remember when we celebrated TomL's birthday, except we were so fucked up it was the wrong day!!

I had always wanted to see the Stones and AC/DC share a stage, but I figured it was never going to happen.

Think about it, by 1980, AC/DC wasn't an opening act really.

So when they played in Germany in 2003, LJ emailed me and told me that she had a scoop -- that they were going to play Toronto. 

I contacted TomL, who I had only known for about a year, and told him I was driving to Toronto.  He convinced me to fly, and the three of us met, face-to-face, in Toronto!  At the Harbour Castle -- we wanted to stay where Keith was busted!!

We sat in the hotel and watched the morning shows on TV.  It was brutally hot on that runway, and they had to truck water in.

We went for the afternoon show, and we got dropped off behind the stage...so we had to wade through a bazillion people that had been there all day.  It wasn't fun.

About 10 minutes into the crowd, a freaking car came through - scattering people everywhere, and there was this feeling of "oh my god this place is out of control.: 

But after 20 minutes, we found a path along some of the big screens they had set up and we moved to the back of the establishment.  Ended up so far back, the stage was a speck in the distance.  Saw and heard the whole thing from the big screens. 

But is was great!
Exactly what you would wish for ... a great AC/DC set and a great STones set (minus JT).  And Rush and the Guess Who as we wandered father into the crowd!

The walk back to downtown after was a bitch.
Amazing that the three of us still talk to one another!

Holy fuck, ten years!  I guess my memory is better than I remember it was.  I think.  Who knows?  But I do remember the SARS posts - true wit on this board, back then.

A memorable few days that I'll never forget.

Would never EVER attend any event of that size again but we can always say we were at that historic event.

Wonder if the footage we taped at the Four Seasons will ever surface?

Nanky failed to relay that story. We had a tip from Stonesdoug to show up at the back entrance of the Four Seasons the day before the show wearing  Stones T's. Of course we did and within a few minutes were selected to go inside, up to a Boardroom where we signed paperwork, were microphoned and each interviewed separately for an official Stones DVD. We have to get our hands on that!!!!

Good memories and three lifelong friendships formed!!!

Indeed it was. That day I think the young bros were the main attraction.

Yeah it was hot.

TomL and LadyJane and I sat in the hotel room watching news of water being trucked in.  The crowd was just infestatious.  In the morning, before we left, LJ grabbed a bunch of Toronto papers and I framed the aerial view of the show.  Crazy...  simply crazy.

I liked how Keith defended young Justin T, with throat slitting gesture to the tinny-tossers.
Smokey Robinson recently rated JT.
JT may only have four or five dance moves/'shapes', but he is white.
Anyone who is rooting Jessie Biel gets my vote.
