Actually I think GaGa is a good choice. She's a good fit for Mick. I thought Mary J sucked so give Lady G a chance to kick it with Mick. She may give GS a Florence Welch ish touch, which I loved.
I just don't see Bruce in the slot previously filled by a Blues guitarist. You Bruce fanatics help me out here. Give me a scenario. Give me a song choice.
Don't know enough about The Black Keys to comment.
All I know is I wish they'd shelve the special guests and give the fans what they want. MICK TAYLOR AND BILL WYMAN ON MORE THAN ONE SONG!!! Yeah, I know. Dream on LJ. Dream on.
Doesnt have to be a blues slot. He probably knows the Stones' catalogue as well as anyone on here, to be honest. It'd be nice if Steve van Zandt was there too, who is even more of a Stones nut. The Stones hardly ever play blues at their gigs anymore anyway. Take out the one-song slots at their recent shows with guest artists and Buddy Guy's show stealing cameo on 'Shine a Light' and ask when was the last time they played a blues song at a proper Stones gig which didnt feature a guest slot? Their target audience doesnt care, sadly.
I still think Taylor will play. I hope its on more than one song. I still dont think Bill will be at the gig but I'd love to be wrong.
The Black Keys are excellent. Its just a two man band though - and one of them is a drummer, so I'm not sure how thats going to work.
Ga Ga is aimed at ratings, I'd guess. Saying that, while I'm not a fan of her music, she's a bloody good singer and performer. I think her duetting with Mick could be pretty good if they choose the right song.
The Stones have had special guests on their PPV's every time since 1989. It's never once detracted from the show itself and in many cases it has added to it. Part of the Stones' legacy has always been trumpeted as 'passing it on' so I've no issue with them having special guests at special events - hopefully the song choices are appropriate.
