Great news! Sounds like the Stones are beginning their pre-tour warmup! New material? Perhaps, but I hope to hell that they put out something that we can all be proud of. The best part of this whole story is news of Keith playing well, and being sober. My biggest fear was that Keith's days as a player were numbered due to his arthritis. If he is playing up to scratch then all the better! We need a tour!

I wouldn't hold your breath for any shows, to be honest.

Maybe they're rehearsing some new songs or ideas, I dont know.

What I do understand is that the December session (which took place at Snake Ranch Studios in London so I've now been told) was Keith's doing and came together pretty quickly with some of the band members having to change some plans at short notice.

This session is a band decision. Maybe a way of checking out how things have progressed since December.

I also wouldn't read too much into the Keith/Costello debacle. Elvis Costello has acknowledged that it was his fault. He has his strap tied around the neck by the nut.

The Chuck Berry tribute at JFK Library in Boston at the end of February, where Keith was invited onstage by Costello, handed a poorly tuned and strung acoustic guitar, and performed a , shall we say, 'rudimentary' accompaniment to 'The Promised Land' which had some people writing his musical obituary

WOW!! I saw that, and honestly had similar thoughts myself...

I still love Elvis...but what a horrible embarrassment for all.

At least we can now absolutely rule out an Olympic event for the Stones...too bad too...
The concert at Hyde Park sounds like a lot of fun...in a pop music kinda way.

Duran Duran has always been a guilty pleasure for me and Steroephonics has always sounded great...even quite Stonesy at various times.
I don't know the other 2 acts at all...Paolo Nutini and Snow Patrol
