Mick Taylor in the studio?

While MT's iffy health makes him playing live with the Stones very unlikely, does anyone find it possible that he could play on any future Stones' studio recordings, given the way he and MJ worked well together last year recording Plundered My Soul (and IMO that song proves he and Little Mick still work great together and MT is just as talented now as he was in 1971).

Could you ever see him playing on any future Stones stuff, new or ''old''?

I think it'd be cool to have both him and Ronnie on guitar in the studio. And I think Jagger knows the '69-'74 lineup was the best.

It'd be great to have him play on at least a few new tracks, obviously. But, for Jagger, having Taylor play on PMS was simply tidying up a loose end. The track was missing both Micks, and, to make it as true to the period as possible, Jagger called him up. I doubt we'll ever see any more involvement beyond that -- especially since Keith was completely unaware of the collaboration. And, for all we know, might still be!

Anniv.' tour they will call in both Bill Wyman & Mick T for at least the UK shows, that would be the right thing to do. IMO.

This would be perfect, since Ronnie "replaced" Bill in terms of the Stones legal partnership anyway. You could have Ronnie play guitar on some tracks too. It'd be great to have both Ronnie and Mick Taylor in the band. I've never been too fond of Darryl Jones' bass playing, especially compared to Bill.

I doubt Bill would EVER come back to the Stones even in a studio capacity. He made a clear, well thought out decision to leave the Stones and had considered leaving for a decade, whereas MT made a not well thought decision thinking he'd become a big guitar star, and even said once he really wasn't sure why he left the band. He's never been quite clear on why he left, whereas Bill was just plainly bored of being a Stone.

And I think MT probably knows in retrospect leaving the Stones was a bad decision for him.

Maybe...But they could've gotten someone better irregardless. I don't like Darryl's tune on any of the post-Bill songs, he lacks the push and groove of Bill's and he's really changed the Stones' sound. I'll be honest and say I prefer Steel Wheels to anything they've put out since outside of Plundered My Soul.

Ever since they started working with Don Was, it's like they've been trying very hard to emulate their late 1960s-mid 70s sound to the point that it sounds forced. Steel Wheels may have been a very slick and modern album (for 1989 and the Stones) but it feels natural somehow, the chemistry is there and isn't being forced, and it has Bill's bass. You can't emulate the 1970s Stones successfully even if you are the Stones without Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman in the band. They were as much a part of that era's greatness as Mick, Keith and Charlie were.

I'll also be honest again and say I've never been a Ronnie Wood fan. He may be a fun guy, whatever, but he lacks the chops to be a Stone. He's too choppy and it kind of muddles the sound when you have two guitarists who play in the same sort of style. He's just sort of "there" live. He's never really done any great solos, and the album that had the most Ronnie influence (Dirty Work) sucked.

Bill Wyman looks too old to play with the Stones, sadly.
