Mary I agree 100% with Sioux; you'll get back to a normal life soon. Have still a little patience and all will be alright for you and your dear Mom.
Hope you'd a great Christmas yesterday. A huge hug and knowing you're getting every day always a bit better, I think is a big step by you. Nobody has come through all what you was in. Stronger persons just can face it as you are.

But not put yourself never down.

Hey guys,

I just read the posts in this thread from the months of May - September of 2012. It really helped me to remember what happened and when. I forget so much of this year and have relied on Paula, Gary and Bob to fill in some of the blanks.

Paula, thank you so much for keeping eveyone up to date. Your posts helped me to recall so much. I remember watching the Olympics when I was in RCU, and also that brief conversation with my Italian Genius Doctor when he tried the trache thing on me. I will always be grateful to that man. When other doctors were telling him, "You're crazy, let her die," he would not give up. He treated me like I was his very own flesh and blood, and he saved my life over and over.

You guys have no idea how heartwarming it was to read each and every one of your posts today. What a rollercoaster ride we've all been on. I have to admit, the past couple of months have been rough, and sciatica is hindering my physical therapy, but when I think about the enormity of what I've been through I'm just glad to be alive.

As I said to Paula the other night on the phone, "After the Apocalypse there will be only Keith and me. We shall start a race of superhumans!" Grin

Thank you ALL for your love and support. It really means a lot to me. I love yuz.

It's heartbreaking to talk to her, isn't it??

I don't know what to say anymore to even attempt to comfort her.

She needs to have the hip replacement and repair of the torn meniscus in her knee. Both are relatively easy and will relieve much of the pain that has hindered her rehab. The problem is she has a fungal infection in the hip joint that is causing tremendous pain.

She's bedridden again and undergoing "washouts" of the hip area to try to clear the infection.

Needless to say she is at her wit's end. Cry

After a harrowing few days, just got a call from Betty to inform me that Mary has been transferred to a Rehab Facility in Ft Lauderdale for two weeks of therapy. Upon completion she is cleared to return to New Jersey. Her liver is in good shape; therefore, the Transplant Team feels her hip and knee surgeries should be done in New Jersey. Walking remains nearly impossible and excrutiatingly painful. And wouldn't you know there was a miscommunication with the Pharmacy resulting in Mary being without ANY pain meds from the time of her Hospital discharge yesterday afternoon until 9:30 this morning. Looking to a bright side, her liver is good and she now knows about her orthopedic problems. This is more info than she had three weeks ago. Phone break. That was Mary. Sounds much better. "Nothing ever goes easy for me kid. Not sure I'm up for all of this but I'm takin it a day at a time". She's braver and stronger than I could ever be.

Wow, yeah....she's about the strongest woman I've ever encountered! That's really great news about her liver

But I do hate that she has to endure hip AND knee surgeries. Sad

My husband had knee replacement surgery almost 2 months ago----just a horrendous ordeal. He'll finally be going back to work on Feb. 11. I hope Mary's eventual surgeries go smoothly, and that she recovers quickly. Thanks for updating us, Paula.
