Just read an update on Facebook that Mary is being moved from RCU (Respiratory Care Unit) to a regular floor!!!!
Now she'll begin intensive Physical Therapy as she is breathing completely on her own and eating although she is still getting nutritional supplements.

Stones in Paris rehearsing.
Mary in extensive PT.
Coincidence???

Critical time for Mary; Discharge planners are looking at Rehab faciliites but she's got to be able to at least walk with a walker. She's just not there yet and needs to push herself harder than ever. Also still having trouble keeping food down which I think may be causing her to be weak. If they can find a Rehab facility in New Jersey, that may be where she's headed. Her Mom is so thrilled at that prospect, but Mary has work to do. She needs our prayers and good thoughts now more than ever. Come on kid; you've come so far and there is light at the end of the tunnel. And that light is coming from HOME.

Finally - after six long months - today I got to speak to my friend again.

To say I'm overjoyed to have got the chance to do so would be a serious understatement, because for several months I never thought it would ever happen.

She still has a lot of rehab work ahead of her (she basically is having to learn how to walk again) and whilst she still has good and bad days (yesterday wasnt too good), today she was in good spirits.

Oh, and she's now aware that a certain English rock n roll band may be playing across the river from where she lives before the end of the year. Hopefully that'll get her motivated even more!

I am very happy to report that Mary has begun to walk with the help of a walker.
She phoned me this morning to tell me about her progress. She sounds healthier and more energetic than she has in years. She is cooperating with PT and OT and looking forward to Going Home.

She told me she hasn't been online since January and she misses everyone very much. We even talked about The Stones and how much she'd like to see them again.

There is no doubt in my mind that she'll be back here with us in the not too distant future.

Way to go Mary!!!!!
