Throwaway

Yep...it was pretty awesome! I wrote down the setlist myself but that looks correct too (-;. Started with UMT, which had JG on the electric, Warren on acoustic - played studio style, with Jackie playing the slowed down solo break. Monkey Man had an amazing groove - Mule's keys player did a great job during the break before the outro. Heartbreaker was kind of a surprise, and it had some horns to boot! Jackie with the slow, yearning solo as done on GHS (though a bit longer). CYHMK was another treat, Jackie starting out on PERCUSSION (Rocky Dijon style) and dancing like only he can once the 2nd half began, then he went to the keys. Song had THREE parts last night - rock, jazz, then back to HEAR ME RINGING...SOFT AND LOW rock part for a bit. Angie was next, 2 acoustics, and not surprisingly, was the "piss break" song for most at this show too. Ventilator Blues had Jackie on harp - a nice arrangement. Shattered was next - the keyboard player played bass, the bassist went to drums, and their drummer came out and sang, dressed in '81 style Jagger gear and prancing like him! Crowd loved it, and his singing wasn't bad either. Wild Horses was nice - Jackie had some good, tasteful Nashville style leads on his electric. Next up - SLAVE. Oh yeah. Horns, keys, guitars, all of 'em got to jam out. Gimme Shelter wasn't bad, but the sound was a bit off for it. Play With Fire was next, and I believe the Mule plays this one a lot, so it got a good reaction. Only JG and WH on acoustics, a nice change of pace. Paint it Black followed, and it was a nice performance - very Eastern-sounding. Bitch was next - with horns of course, though I wish there were some lead licks. Both guitars played the riff only, I was hoping for some of those Keith/Albert King style licks! Great nonetheless. Brown Sugar ended it - a party on wheels as always. Didn't know much of the 2nd set, but I did enjoy what I heard. Some great costumes too, but I was a very lucky ROer to see this special set!
