Believe it or not, but in the 60's The stones were considered the ugliest band in Rock, I heard more comments about that then anything else, they (press/D.J.'s) used to call them the Rolling Uglies, I couldn't care less, I loved the way they looked in fact, they never smiled from their album covers, & they looked like they would call anybody's bluff, exactly what Rock & Roll should be, not the sick smiles from Herman Hermits & some of those other groups, I remember in a magazine, a cartoon of The Stones & the Dave Clark 5, The Stones looking really sad looking in comparison to the DC5 & Mick saying in the cartoon"Come on guys, nobody's perfect" I think it was in Hit Parader Magazine.

The Rolling Stones ain't just a group, their a way of life-Andrew Loog Oldham.

I'm thinking that nobody ever really LOOKED at their faces back then...

At least the over 30 crowd. Brian was good looking. Keith was adorable. Mick had "the look". Even Charlie and Bill were cool looking! Remember all the press about how dirty and scruffy they looked? Well, compared to the Beatles in their collarless suits....I guess that nice slacks, sweaters, button down shirts, etc. were really unacceptable... Roll Eyes

Besides the fact that Brian and Charlie wore suits a lot, early on! Gooood grief.....when the Stones arrived for their first U.S. tour, girls met them with flowers {I'm sure you all have seen the pix}. It wasn't a gesture of greeting, evidently---"they" were afraid that the Stones would be smelly and stinky from not bathing for at least a week, and "they" hoped the flowers would cover the stench! Roll Eyes
