Out of Tears is very good, but AHYS is outstanding. One of the best five Stones songs post Tattoo You.

Agree that both are good.
OOT gets my vote.
Piano is beautiful and it's a very sentimental song for me, personally.

If anything, Streets of Love sounded like an attempt to re-make Out Of Tears - unfortunately it died on it's arse.

"Almost Hear You Sigh" gets the nod here ... it was a true MJ/KR collaboration, with Mick sanding off the edges of, and sweetening, what was fundamentally a Keith composition. That formula usually yields the best results, doesn't it?

But "Tears" is nothing to sneeze at. It was Mick in top form: a commanding performance, a strong arrangement. And Ronnie was good tonight, too! (The definitive live rendition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ign_ibnh0s&feature=related).

Keith in '93 was coming off a stunning run of songwriting in his own right. I like Voodoo Lounge. But in retrospect, it should've been even better. What happened?

Remember to keep your nose to the grindstone, your shoulder to the wheel, your feet on the ground, your eye on the ball, your ear to the ground, your finger on the pulse, your head on your shoulders, the pedal to the metal, a song in your heart, your hand on the helm and the bull by the horns

Whilst I acknowledge "Sigh" is the better song, "Tears" holds some very sentimental memories for me. Nobody does ballads better than the Stones.

I gotta go with "Out of Tears". One of the better ballads in their long career. Probably their best ballad since the Tattoo You Days.

"Almost Hear Your Sigh" is good enough but OOT takes it fairly easy to me. The song is great with fine arrangement.

According to the book "The Rolling Stones : Complete Recording Sessions", Steve Jordan initially co-wrote the song with Keith during the "Talk Is Cheap" sessions, and has a writing credit

Really? It's on mine, although I dont think I ever bought the Virgin remaster. Maybe its just on the CBS original.

Jordan definitely co wrote it with Keith for Talk is Cheap. There's an outtake of it in circulation. Mick rewrote some of the lyrics and it was 'polished up' for Steel Wheels.

Both are great beatiful and emotional songs.. both are bit underrated  songs.. Almost hear got my vote.. btw Out of tears has one of the most simplest and best solo what stones has.  Smiley

The song most definitely has a Jagger/Richards/Jordan byline. But I think Jordan's actual contribution was minimal. He got the credit for the same reason that Keith got one on Mick's "Lonely At The Top": it was a carryover from an earlier recording session...

I'm not so sure it's comparable, Mel. Mick and Keith's track record in squeezing collaborators out of the publishing royalties suggests that if someone gets a co-credit along with them, then they've REALLY done something to earn it.

With 'Lonely at the top' its a bit different because the song was originally written for a Rolling Stones project - and presumably was copyrighted. If one of the Glimmer Twins gets a credit or co-credit for a Stones song, then they BOTH get it. Which is a bit unfortunate for Ronnie, for example, with regards to Dirty Work as he co-wrote most of the album with Keith, but ended up seeing the royalties for the songs split three ways between himself, Mick and Keith.
