Bob's mum died in early 2000. He mentions his family background in 'Chronicles'. His ancestry is Ukrainian and Lithuanian Jewish.
Her maiden name was actually (drumroll please) - Stone. Maybe his most famous song was written with her in mind.
Quite a coincidence that you happened to post THAT clip. Was looking through YouTube last night just before I went to bed and happened to watch that very same one.
Bit of a stretch though to think it's about his mother. It's pretty much well established that most of Blood On The Tracks was inspired by his recent marital break up.
