No Alice. The opening act will be friday when they run the Kentucky Oaks for 3 year old fillies. Rachel Alexandra is the one to beat in that race. Then come saturday,I'm calling it right now. Pioneer of the Nile is your winner. Run,don't walk to the windows and wager on this one. May not be a recession buster. But it may make for a down payment on future Stones show tickets.

DEAD FLOWERS
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Well when you're sitting there in your silk upholstered chair
Talkin' to some rich folk that you know
Well I hope you won't see me in my ragged company
Well, you know I could never be alone

Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave

Well when you're sitting back in your rose pink Cadillac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day
Ah, I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon
And another girl can take my pain away

Well go figure. 50-1 shot hits. I had to settle for a "Respectable" 2nd. Still made a few bucks though. Sadly Mr Hot Stuff was nowhere to be found when it came time for serious running.

Quite a race! If we all had $$ on Mine That Bird we really could afford Stones tickets! Glad to hear you made a little money on #2, SCL.

I thoroughly enjoyed it too.

And as long as no dipshit journalist calls it a "Cinderella Story," I'll be happy about it for weeks to come.

You heard it here first. Mine That Bird will NOT win. He'll be lucky to crack the top 5. The filly won't win either. But you'll want to use her in the trifecta. Here is the winning Tri.

1.Pioneer of the Nile
2.Friesan Fire
3.Rachel Alexandra

I mean as a big horse racing fan,I would love to see A triple crown winner. But the Derby win was a fluke. The question is whether or not RAchel ALexandra reall is that good.....We'll find out in about an hour.

Rachel Alexandra won the Preakness with Burrell.  Me thinks if he rode MTB, he'd have won.

Rachel Alexandra is a beauty, but no triple crown this year.
