Saw him at Maple Leaf Gardens in the 70's with Brownsville Station as openers...lol....second row and he kicked some serious ass. Hiway 61 still sticks in my mind as one the best live tunes I ever heard.Saw hime many times since but never as great as that nite. Think he had Floyd Radford (?) on rythm..he was awesome too

I saw JW at the State Theatre in Sweet VA.  He was in poor health, but once he warmed up, he was awesome.  One of my favorites.

He recently played the Birchemere also in Sweet VA.

Was this at Winter Pop, the first one? on New Years Eve? I missed that one but went to the next one the following year, saw Alice Cooper New Years Eve '71, first time he got hung in the gallows, Crowbar opened the show, but that first one must have been great, one of my all time favorite live recordings is Johnny Winter And Live, here's a link to 40 years of Johnny Winter.

Caught him in December '08
It wasn't '76 when I'd seen him last, however, he was good.
He sat thru the show.
James Montgomery played harp on a Ray Charles song, which lit the crowd.
He did bring out the Firebird for Bony Maronie, which was cool.
He's gone thru a tough spell with addictions, bad management
He's still kicking though....
