Zappa/Mothers appreciation thread.

I was wondering how many are or were into Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, I loved their early albums, especially Absolutely Free & We're only in it for the money, also a take of on do-wop 50's vocal groups "Cruising with Reben & the Jets" their early albums were hilarious, satire with a social statement about the society back then (60's) Zappa even put down hippies through out We're only in it for the money, when it wasn't cool to do so, he was a great guitarist too.

Another thing about Zappa was that he was never into drugs, he was anti-drugs, when Alice Cooper recorded their first album "Pretties For You" Zappa originally was going to produce it, they (A.C.) went out to smoke a joint on a break from the recording, & came back stoned, Zappa was so pissed of he left the studio, & they had to get someone else to produce the album.
Zappa also had his own record label, Bizarre & straight records, which got A.C. started & Captain Beefheart/GTO's/Wild Man Fischer, only Alice Cooper made much of a impact & that was after they left his label.

Sorry to say this H of S and I know what you mean, but Zappa was a junkie, he was addict to nicotine and passed away because of his strong addiction to this dangerous drug. My dad passed away for the same reason but instead of prostate cancer he passed away by emphysema.

He used to tell me that I won't live too much using drugs and I tried to say the same when he was in the terminal phase of this disease

Yes, you're correct about that Voodoo, I forgot that nicotine was a drug, I always think about mind altering drugs when I think about drugs, Zappa I believe died from lung cancer, he was a very heavy smoker.

I saw 200 Motels when it first came out, I remember it being a really weird movie, Keith Moon as a Nun, & Ringo as Zappa, now I see these clips on Youtube, & it certainly is a weird movie.

I saw the movie in San Diego in 1972. In the same theater I saw Performance and the Devils of Loudon.
(technically Ten Thousand Motels should have been Two Hundred Motels, but I made a mistake....memory lapse or something.)
