From the label's perspective, if you were an executive signing the Stones to a reissue program and were given the choice of either putting out the albums in exactly the same format as has been released time and time again OR putting them out with bonus unreleased material, I cant imagine anyone would choose the first option as a better move business-wise.

I think we would all agree that the Stones back catalog should be available to purchase. They changed labels that's all.

Well, thats certainly true - and in fairness, Virgin/EMI's first steps when they signed the Stones was to issue a compilation AND to remaster the post-1970 back catalogue. EMI are deleting these releases, so yes, the material should be out there.

I just think, as Ian says, there surely has to come a point when the band and label have to think - who is going to buy this stuff over & over, and is there a market for people who havent got around to owning them yet?
