Standard burner will work, but a fast burner and at least 4x DL blanks are needed or it will take 40-45 mins to burn.

Dual layers hold 8.5 gigs instead of the 4.7 gigs on a single layer...you can get better picture resolution and sound or put a 2DVD set onto a single dual layer disc.

not every DVD player will burn DL dvd's but most nowadays will. just check on the box before ya buy it. should be on there, but if its not mentioned as a type of disk it burns (especially if others are mentioned) grab a different one. Not really more expensive.

Getting good results is probably more dependent on the disks you use than the burner

If ya want some good reviews and information go to cdfeaks.com and join the forum.

Sorry, but that's nonsense  unless you got one of these handy
...

Cabledog says he's got a standard burner.
without further information about the name and model# of that burner you can't just assume it's a dual layer capable recorder.
...and that's what you need if want to burn double layer dvd's.

aha, I thought so...and yes, you'd need DL burner if you really need to burn dl dvd's. Do you?
you can split the material onto 2 normal discs. maybe a little reauthoring is necessary.

glad you were able to get a refund - sometimes they're real fussy about returning DVDs.
