All the artists I don't listen to get their awards tonight.

There are scheduled tributes to Bo Diddley and The Four Tops.

I'll look for 'em on YouTube tomorrow...

Still a trainwreck.

Stevie was good.
You can never get enough to Al Green
Kid Rock gave a nod to Billy Powell, good of him.
Give Jennifer Hudson credit for singing under her circumstances..
It was wicked weird to see Robert Plant in this setting.
More to come
I miss Soy Bomb...

" Do you think anybody actually told Stevie Wonder he was on stage with a bunch of kids? "

" McCartney is the most-honored former Beatle, with 13 Grammys, but his chance at topping that eluded him early on at the Grammys on Sunday. He was competing for two awards and was also scheduled to perform with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

McCartney lost out to John Mayer on Sunday in the best solo rock vocal performance category. The former Beatle had been nominated for his cover of the early Beatles tune "I Saw Her Standing There," a track from the 12-inch vinyl release "Amoeba's Secret."

McCartney, 66, is also nominated for best male pop vocal performance statuette for "That Was Me," another track from "Amoeba's Secret."

Ty Law of the Pats once said Super Bowl rings do not put food on the table.
Plant must be using this strategy with his past, and his voice & choice of collaborators...

should the spelling of the award show be "Grammies" instead of "Grammys"?

I was happy for Robert Plant/A. Krauss.

I'm sorry that Chris Brown is allegedly battering Rhianna.  She should dump his loser ass.

It's not his fault; he came from an abusive background! BTW Apparently, no charges will be filed.

It would of been even nicer if Billy Powell was mentioned during the tribute to all the people who passed away in the last year.

SCL, I think it's calendar year, at least that's how the awards are measured, so it would make sense he was not included within that roll call..

He'll be recognized at next year's Grammy broadcast, as Nelly said.
That's when they will have the list for 2009.

i haven't entire grammys telecast since stevie took everything for 'songs in the key of life'....
i saw bits and pieces and it was nice to see plant doing something cool and different.
i also liked adele, great voice, i like coldplay, but missed their performance....
macca was ok, but i wish he had done something less predictable.
i loved plant's comment about how in the old days, this would be called 'selling out'.....because this generation of performers are all about the grammys....
me, i never cared - to me, they still conjure images of helen reddy and andy williams in a medley of the nominated songs...
truth is, i think i liked it better than - preposterous. bit less self-important.

BTW, i was just alerted to the satriani/coldplay debate because i don't read about this shit.... the satch is suing coldplay for allegedly plagiarizing some song called, 'if i could fly' ...
honestly, i don't care for the satriani school of rock guitar, but this was kind of nice, but no way in hell like coldplay....
satriani's song is a nice, but common chord progression of pretty minor 7 chords and you can never go wrong with these, and incidentally joe, kinda sounds like the live version of 'gonna take alot of love' by neil young..
i know this site is not a hotbed of coldplay fandom, but i love them and the song in question takes a simple progression and takes it to another level of pop art.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMcjXo8ZuqE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE

(BTW, love all the 'gay' comments...ha.)
anyway, i was bored and wandered what anybody else thought about this, because i don't see it.

I love Robert Plant, but I don't like his solo stuff too much.  I even saw him solo  maybe twice.  In his youth, he was HOT HOT HOT!

And, he's hung like a horse.   Ouch!

This year I realized just how FEW awards are actually given out, and how many performances there are.....

Macca sounded and looked fine to me. He looks happy since he dumped that demon Heather.

Neil Diamond sounded awful. Just said or shouted the lyrics. Couldn't sing worth anything.

I'm glad that the "old timers" do so well these days on awards shows! Kudos to Plant and Krauss. Smiley

And I was shocked, but glad, to see Adele win "Best New Artist". I thought the Jonas boys had it in the bag.

neil diamond made the same mistake macca made:
he chose to perform the most overplayed, least edgy song in their catalogue - just to get the feel-goods...
its boring...these guys have such a rich catalogue beyond the routine, predictable stuff.
neil should have done something like holly holy, or shilo, or my fave, brother love's traveling salvation show: show these kids what a real catalogue is.

at this point in their lives and careers i don't think they give a flying fuck, they like the exposure and besides, it gives them a night out..... and to play a song they know well and won't mess up.

Shit!
