the only consistent was ian anderson and martin barre has been there since their second album. sabbaths iommi was even a member for a little while(he appears in rock and roll circus). despite all the band changes they have only put out a couple of weak albums in their 40 plus year career.

And they actually improved with Ronnie James Dio. There are some good songs on even the post Dio album. I love the unreleased version of the Eternal Idol with Ray Gillen on lead vocals.

First of all, though Donna Jean was a bit of a nuisance, she was largely inconsequential aside from the occasional unfortuntate shriek. To compare her presence with the death of Pigpen on Brent as the worst thing is just silly.

Vince was only chosen because they couldn't deal with conducting a proper search. They auditioned five guys in one day and picked Vince because he could sing high harmony, not because of his keys playing. He was indeed an unfortunate, and ultimately tragic choice.
