in a Stones song.  Can be any instrument.  I pick:

Coming Down Again (Bobby)
It's All Over Now (KR)
Dead Flowers (MT - any live show 71-72, + the benefit show from 73)

I don't place them in any special order--but amongst their studio solos I am particularly fond of
1) Keith's solo in 'Bitch'
2) Keith's solo in 'Gimme Shelter'
3) Keith's solo in SFTD
4) Taylor's solo in 'Sway'
5) Taylor's solo in 'Dance Little Sister'
6) Keith's solo in 'Around And Around'
7) Brian's solo in 'I Wanna Be Your Man'
8) Woodie's solo in 'Tie You Up (The Pain Of Love)'

Ones that come to mind, & I'm probably missing a lot of others.
1-SFTD
2-Can't you hear me knocking.
3-Gimme Shelter.
4-Dead Flowers.
5-Time waits for no one.
6-Winter.

There are so many I like!

For the studio recordings: Down The Road Apeice (Keith), Sway (Mick Taylor), I Wanna Be Your Man (Brian), SFTD (Keith)

In all truthfullness, my favourite solo's are by Keith during the 63-65 era - too many good 'uns to mention!

As for live, well any Mick Taylor Gimmie Shelter solo is up there. I especially like his Ya Ya's SFTD.

I like your other picks but didn't ATPTB make a list as one of the worst solos?

I just love the BITCH riff, it's so original, unique, always makes me happy, and it rocks my world.

I'm moved by the guitars and horns together, pounding loud, hard and long.

Oh wait, am I talking about a song here or sex?  Grin Grin Grin

Good calls, particularly DLS, it's underrated.  Not to be a douche but i think Tie You Up is all Keith, Woodie plays bass.

I believe you are referring to Guitar World's worst solos of all-time. Well they said that Free Bird was a bad solo and later basically came out and apologized for being way off the mark on a lot of the stuff they picked. I wouldn't put much stock into that.
