Tim Ries: The Rolling Stones Project II
Tim Ries – saxophones
Bernard Fowler, Magos Herrera, Jasia Ries – vocals
Michael Davis – trombone
Adam Rogers – guitar
James Genus – bass
Greg Hutchinson – drums

Saxophonist Tim Ries is known to audiences around the world as the lead saxophonist with the Rolling Stones touring band. In October 2008, Tim played a spectacular series of shows at Jazz Standard spotlighting the music of his latest release, Stones World: The Rolling Stones Project II. Now he’s back with more sounds from this ambitious two-disc set on which an impressive roster of international musicians performs jazz rearrangements of the Stones’ classics. The core group includes guitar virtuoso Adam Rogers, master drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, vocalist Bernard Fowler and trombonist Michael Davis (both of the Stones organization), and the passionate Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura.

Tim Ries: The Rolling Stones Project II back at the Jazz Standard in NYC on Friday, January 9th. Shows at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30pm -

http://192.220.10.254/red...ondary/jazzCalendar2.html

I'm thinking about going to this, the Jazz Standard is an excellent 'club show' venue, great food too, and the tickets are only $30!
Any RO'er's interested in attending this gig?

AAahh as luck would have it, I just got a 'dinner date' invite for tomorrow night! So I said 'do you have any place special in mind?' and he said 'not really' so I suggested the Jazz Standard and he said 'great idea'! 'The food is really good there and there's a band playing too' he said 'sounds like fun'! Haha yeah, I love Bernard (Serious man!) and Tim! Full review and pics of the show for the board to follow.

Life is good living in the NY area! Last time I was there to see Tim Reis I paid for both shows, and nobody checked tickets after the first show. So it seems if people were spending $$ they let them stay for the second show without a ticket. I guess if it isnt sold out they figure it's better to fill up the place and make money on drinks. I doubt it sold out since we got tickets today for tomorrow's show. Tickets were cheap too, only $25 + bs.

So long sucker

Wow it was a really nice night seeing the show! No traffic in the city, I found a free parking space, we got the best table in the room, the show was jazzed, and best of all I got to talk with TIm and Bernard after the show and got a few pics! They are such fine musicians, I was honored to be remembered by them since we met 2 other times and they were happy to converse with the handful of fans who were hanging around. They were in good spirits because 2 shows were completely sold out! THE JAZZ STANDARD is a historic jazz club on the lower east side, and there were pictures on the wall of Louis Armstrong and Billy Holiday playing there in 1937 and 1939. It's 7 nights a week jazz with excellent food and great service. The restrooms are spotless which says alot about a place, am I right ladies and gents? Top notch all the way!

I wrote down the names of the musicians:
Adam Rogers. guitar
Greg Hutchison, drums
James Deanus, bass
Gozalo Grau, piano
Michael Davis, trom
Bernard Fowler, vocals
Margos Herrar, vocals, skinny chick
Jasia Reis, Tim's 15 yr old daughter, sang vocals 1 song
Casiana Perone, flamenco dancer wearing red tap shoes

Setlist: 7 Jazz songs all 10-15 minutes each:
YCAGWYW
Baby Break it Down
Lady Jane
Salt of the Earth
2 other songs I never heard of
JJ Flash
