True to her party girl form, Paris Hilton was late to her press conference in Sydney today, leaving the media throng jostling for position for 40 minutes in a pokey room at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel.

The atmosphere was irritable when, 20 minutes after Hilton's scheduled arrival, a figure dressed in a monkey suit stepped onto the stage. Was Hilton trying a bold new look? No, it was not the young heiress under the fur, but the mascot of Bongo Virus, the social networking site that reportedly paid $100,000 for the pleasure of Hilton's company at its New Year's Eve party in Kings Cross tonight. For twenty minutes, the mustachioed monkey performed a few shuffling dance moves and attempted to communicate with reporters in sign language.

When Hilton finally appeared, dressed in a long brown and green dress with a plunging neckline, many reporters had one burning question on their minds: Where the hell had she been?

Sadly, this and many other questions remained unasked. The role of interrogator was granted to radio shock jock, Kyle Sandilands, who asked a prepared list of probing questions about the website and the evening's festivities. "It's going to be awesome," said Paris, though whether she was talking about the party, the site or her outfit, no one was quite sure.

When the assembled reporters rebelled and yelled out a few questions of their own, Paris answered them happily enough. "I'm definitely going to Bondi," she told one questioner. "I can't wait to get to the beach." When was she going? "I'm not telling. [If I do] you guys are all going to show up."

A question about her planned outfit for New Year's Eve received a more satisfactory answer. She plans to change a few times throughout the evening, but will spend at least some of her time in "a frilly, but beautiful vintage gown by Versace."

After less than fifteen minutes of chit chat, she aimed her trademark pout at the photographers, hugged the monkey and stalked off stage.

They might keep her down in OZ. They seem to like her down there. The Aussie papparazzi are having a field day. I just hope they catch her on the beach. 

Her appeal amazes me. She's a pig with lipstick. Seriously, guys, I reckon she probably has to get her vibrator drunk before it would go anywhere near her.
