Mick sure knows how to cut costs in this time of a "stalled" economy....Sorry  there is no room for a $200,000 bonus this year, but we do have a nice little lunch set up for us  Cheesy

Seriously, besides this lunch, I wonder what they gave him as a token (I am taking it as they did a little more than just this lunch for all those tour grossing records and his years of service). Possibly money, or a nice vacation for him and the family. Heck maybe a nice car?

Yes, that was before the 1981 Tour, the last "real one" some would argue, without 10+ backup musicians !

Amazing stories about their stay there on that site, this one for instance http://www.studiowner.com/essays/essay.asp?books=0&pagnum=3049 !

WTF?

On what planet?

Who do you work for?

Dude!  Seriously!

You're delusional!

I don't know of any companies that give $200, 000 bonuses!  Family vacations?  Brand-new cars?

Ha!  Ha!  Ha!

Where I work when someone retires, we usually have a potluck dinner for them and they get a nice plaque!  The women usually get red roses, too.

P.S.  In this "stalled" economy, we should all be grateful to have a job, a lot of people are unemployed!

Ahhhhh gorda, this was supposed to be a joke for the most part....

On a serious note ....$200,000 bonuses = Mid-size companies/corporation CEO's get bonuses like this left and right. Many much more than that. It is no secret The Stones are, in a sense a mid-size company in themselves and are the highest paid musicians in the world and have been for decades. In fact their tours have generated over a billion dollars since 1989 alone.

So, in actuality I think Mr. Dunn deserves a bit more than a pot luck dinner or some plaque for managing all those record breaking multi-million dollar world tours. Every one of their tours since the 1970's was an over-all success at the very least... He must be good at what he does other wise he would of been ousted long ago.

By the way...Mr. Dunn's occupation isn't exactly the every day job. The dude is titled as "The" actual head tour manager for The Rolling Stones for decades now. Thats his job ....you know....overseeing and being in charge of the biggest musical act and their show (and all their employees...chefs and all) while on these record breaking tours. By far and away they are the most successful touring entourage for countless years with several record breaking tours both in attendance as well as from a financial stand point.

In case you still do not get it...

Maybe we should be asking you what planet your from?

The guy isn't exactly working part time at a call center.

Yeah really. I mean loyalty is one thing. But to stick around this long,I'm sure he is very well compensated.....But the whole lunch thing leads to other questions. Mick is no dummy. He knows a big lunch in a very public place in London is going to generate some attention. Maybe it was a public way of saying all is good with Ronnie.

Rolling Stone did great coverage of the 81 tour. I"m sure that pic is from that. I recall reading about the rehearsals. Stu was mentioned alot, as was Keith's "salt and pepper" hair.

Yes good observation. They could of killed two birds with one stone (or maybe two Stones Smiley).

***It really gets me how everyone always acts like Ronnie is on his death bed. Sure the dude has a problem, no doubt, but people act like he is going to keel over any day. Just three months ago people were talking like he was possibly going to die.

It really is blown out of proportion I think. Sure he is an alcoholic... but he, is a very functional alcoholic. Sadly the day could come when it all catches up to him (God forbid, lets hope not) but he's still in alright shape right now. I mean, the dude is rehearsing for a tour right now lol ...what does that tell you.

36 photos of them leaving afterwards (or in Ronnie's case, popping out for a smoke with Mick's son) here :

Warning - Ronnie is wearing a jacket which some fans may find offensive.

Isn't Alan Dunn the guy I spotted in the Madrid hotel lobby as looking familiar? You came up with the name though, as I recall.

That was his brother Arnold- who also features in a backstage scene in the Biggest Bang documentary.

They have a third brother, Tony - who doesnt work for the Stones organization, but is a great bloke. He was instrumental in getting a few lucky fans (me included) VIP/hospitality passes for a couple of the UK shows in 2006.

The memory of GTRM's reaction to seeing Rocks Off's favourite Stones promoter whilst we were standing there trying to look inconspicuous is something I'll take to my grave...

Me (whispering) : Look, there's Michael Cohl
GTRM (hissing very loudly in a Noo Joisey accent as he passed no more than 10 feet away) : THAT RAT BASTID!!
