Doctors believe the Animal Park host, 34, has caught Leishmaniasis - caused by protozoan parasites transmitted by the bite of a species of sand fly. Fogle's illness could jeopardise his fitness levels ahead of his South Pole expedition in December. Action man: Ben Fogle, who has contacted a flesh-eating bug, filming Extreme Dreams in Peru this summer The former Castaway star spent eight weeks filming in South America over the summer for his BBC2 show Extreme Dreams. Following his return to England, Fogle was soon struck down with a mystery virus and left bed-ridden for three weeks. After undergoing a series of tests at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London, doctors believe he has the flesh-eating bug....
