I think "Where the Boys all Go" is strident and boring, and it's their first song that really made me question their mentality at their ages. "Send Her to Me" is just plain boring. The dead giveaway is when the catalog of nationalities, ending with a feeble "She could be the alien," sounds worn out and pointless even to the singer.
I'd rather hear "Yellow Cab" tightened up and put on the ER album. Remember - we're talking about a Manhattan-themed album here, and these songs do nothing for that effort. My picks (including "Yellow Cab") at least stick some good songs in problematic slots. Nobody really gives a shit for side one of ER after "Send Her to Me" starts, and the reason people hate "Indian Girl" (which at least has the virtue of being dramatic) is because the two less-than-overwhelming songs before it set it up for failure. "We Had it All" is overwhelming, and "Think I'm Going Mad" a good tune that would play well right after "Emotional Rescue," as if the singer needed a rescuing, too. The album could use its shot of salvation; see the wiki aritcle for confirmation.
Who says we need a tour, with such a backlash over criticism of *Emotional Rescue,* by God! Everybody agrees that Undercover sucks worse than Dirty Work, though - right?
